In a city that seems to have as many steakhouses as people; Why should Dunston’s Steakhouse make your list? For me, It’s not just the wonderful cuisine, and famous salad bar, at sane prices, nor the nostalgia of casually dining in one of the oldest restaurants in Dallas; serving customers for close to 70 years now, it’s also the entire staff’s commitment to excellent service. Not many restaurants large or small can boast; their owner, 95 years young, shows up, puts on his apron, and rustles up meals with the crew, but you’ll find Mr. Dunston at both locations Daily. If libations, dining alone or covering with others at the bar are your thing; don’t worry, they’ve got you covered at their spacious, and well stocked bar, “TBD Bar” which features a separate rear entrance. Keeping up with the times, and those who crave a bit more, you’ll find the festive vibes of TBD lounge just a doorway and curtain away. You’ll be glad you stayed longer! If we’re enjoying Dunston’s Steakhouse on the same night, say hello! I love that! Xoxo Lorenzo! TBD Lounge TBD Lounge manages to incorporate the most Important elements of a bar while capturing the charm, and decor of a stiletto to sneaker Lounge! The eclectic ambiance serves as an inviting backdrop to the diverse audience they truly deserve and strive for. From craft cocktails to domestic brews, all are served with a smile, with 95 year old Mr. Dunston himself making the rounds. The space although intimate, accommodates groups of all sizes, from sports fans enjoying a game, friends celebrating special occasions, to couples enjoying date night; the allure of TBD lounge offers all a great time. The hours vary throughout the week, starting with Happy Hour and running until midnight weekends, a little earlier other nights. Plan ahead if you’re hungry because the kitchen closes at 9pm during the week and 10pm weekends, and you certainly wouldn’t want to miss out on Dunston’s Steakhouse’s amazing food. I look forward to sharing a cocktail next to you! Xoxo Lorenzo!

Our experience here ended unfortunately in disappointment. My partner and I came in for a nice steak dinner this evening. We sat in the “back door bar” area and it was relatively “popping” but I wouldn’t call it busy. We started with wine, bread and an appetizer which was all great. The salad bar was also great. We ordered steaks and waited. The table behind us had at least 6 people and they ordered after us and got their food before us. We tried to think nothing of it until my partner cut his steak and it was well done instead of Medium Rare like he requested. A little annoying since the menu says “not responsible for steaks ordered med well or well done.” Here we are trying to order a medium rare steak that has come out well done. My medium rare filet was perfect. Unfortunately I had to eat alone because my partner of course told the server that his steak was over cooked. He offered to remake the steak. By the time it came out, my partners side sweet potato was cold and I was finished eating. We asked for the steak to be removed from the ticket and it could be boxed up but at this point we didn’t even want the steak anymore. The server boxed it up anyways for us and my partner took it out when we got home, to have a few bites. Instead od the sweet potato side, they had made a regular potato and the steak was still cooked MW to well done. What started as a good evening ended in disappointment. While the server was okay and the atmosphere was nice, unfortunately the kitchen ruined our whole experience and I don’t see us coming back.

I was mostly pleased with my recent dining experience at Dunston's. The service was exemplary, all of the staff are super friendly, and I LOVE the throw-back decor. Other standouts were the mozzarella bites, fresh rolls, the most awesome salad bar, and the affordable drinks made with care. Now for the negatives. As much as it pains me to say it, the steaks at my table of five were just not good. I had the New York Strip (medium rare) and it was full of gristle and fat. It also had zero seasoning, and a curious lack of flavor. My son had the same steak at the same temperature and was just as unsatisfied. I was also disappointed with the baked potato, which was really tiny. Think slightly smaller than a baseball (not a classic steakhouse-sized tater at all). I am not picky and I rarely will send food back, although I contemplated it this time. Dunston's is affordable compared to high-end steakhouses, but one would expect a bit more for a steak that costs $38.

On October 19th, our party of seven reserved a table at your Lovers Lane establishment for the express purpose of celebrating a significant family milestone: my father's 70th birthday. This decision was predicated solely on the previously excellent service received at your Greenville location, setting a clear standard of expectation that was not remotely met. We were seated promptly at 6:00 PM. The service failure, however, commenced immediately thereafter. Fifteen minutes elapsed before the assigned server—who presented as visibly unprofessional and inattentive—arrived at the table. A subsequent twenty-minute delay was incurred merely for the delivery of beverages and the taking of our order, establishing an immediate atmosphere of unacceptable neglect. The situation deteriorated upon the delivery of our entrées. The orders were fundamentally incorrect across the board, culminating in one member of our party receiving no meal whatsoever and another being served a steak in a condition that can only be described as dangerously undercooked. A formal request for managerial intervention was made. I detailed these catastrophic failures to the manager, who provided an assurance that the situation would be rectified. After an additional fifteen-minute delay, it became evident that this assurance was hollow, as no remedial action had been taken. When my wife directly confronted the manager regarding this continued inaction, the response was an appalling demonstration of indifference. We were met with an absolute lack of apology, empathy, or ownership, and were instead offered the dismissive option to "go if you want." The conduct of your management staff was a profound insult to our custom. This combination of negligent service, inexcusable kitchen errors, and utterly unprofessional managerial conduct resulted in the complete destruction of a planned 70th birthday celebration. The experience was an unqualified failure and demonstrates a severe internal breakdown in quality control and customer respect at your Lovers...
