Spent some time in Bishop Arts district today, and we were recommended to visit this restaurant. I am not familiar with the area, so it took a little effort to find the place. Parking was easy, but it was metered and cheap. We walked in and were seated immediately despite the fact that the parking lot was full and the restaurant was busy. First thing that I noticed was that the atmosphere was welcoming and felt authentic for a Mexican restaurant. Within a couple of minutes or less our waiter stopped by and took our drink order and then chips and salsa were on the table. Salsa was fresh and tasty. We spent a few extra minutes figuring out the menu because it was not like a standard TexMex menu and a lot of it was in Spanish. We ordered guacamole for a starter and it was good. Our entrees were the shrimp tacos and Birria tacos. Everything tasted great and more importantly it was hot (temperature). I really wanted to try the mole, but the regular menu did not have a dish that specifically called my name with the mole. I wanted to try their food as is. Next time I go, I will try to special order enchiladas and substitute tomatillo sauce for mole. I didn't even eat dinner tonight because I am still full for lunch. We really loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and the general vibe of the neighborhood. We will certainly visit again.

My family decided this was the place to do mother's day at. Everyone's food was decent, except mine. I ordered the pollo al horno. The chicken was dry & too salty for my taste. All I ate was the rice & potatoes. I tried a bit of everything from the combo plate. That was actually pretty good. The horchata was okay. Our service was alrigh at first. The waitress didn't come at all after our food was out. I could've used another horchata to wash the literal & figurative salt down. When you check in with Yelp, you get 2 free sopapillas. According to the people who ate them, it was very delicious. There is in house mariachis that charge $20 per song. They're good at what they do. Heads up, they don't think reservations or seat incomplete parties. I waited 3 hours for my complete party of 23 to all show up. The food wasn't worth that wait. I'm taking in consideration that it's a holiday, so 3 🌟.

Jan. 04, 2024- The shrimp tacos, rice, and veggies were okay. I would have liked a little bit of flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their food. The service was great and our server was attentive. Everything was delicious and the service was great. I'm sooo stuffed. Luckily we missed the rush , because they were super busy. Mon.-02/20/2023-My food was delicious, I had a medium Caldo de Pollo. I would actually consider the portion a small not a medium. Hubby had the Quiso Picoso and he did not like it at all. The taste was mediocre and the Quiso was greasy. He was not satisfied with the portions as well, with that being said $18.95 was too much. The staff and our waitress did a great job. They also have a nice bar. I really love the music and vibe here👍

A Fiery Fiesta of Flavor at El Ranchito: Dallas’ Tex-Mex Treasure!

Step into El Ranchito, and you’re instantly swept into a vibrant celebration of Tex-Mex culture. Nestled in the heart of Dallas, this bustling gem delivers an unforgettable experience where bold flavors, warm hospitality, and a lively atmosphere collide. Whether you’re a local craving comfort or a visitor hunting for authenticity, El Ranchito is a culinary carnival that deserves a standing ovation.

Ambiance: A Fiesta for the Senses - The moment you walk in, the energy is infectious. Colorful papel picado sways overhead, rustic wooden accents evoke ranch-style charm, and the hum of conversation blends with mariachi tunes. It’s a place where families laugh over shared platters, friends clink margarita glasses, and the aroma of sizzling meats beckons from the kitchen. The vibe is casual yet electric—perfect for a festive night out or a hearty weekend brunch.

The Food: A Love Letter to Tex-Mex Tradition - Let’s cut to the chase: Order the fajitas. Arriving on a searing skillet with a theatrical cloud of smoky fragrance, El Ranchito’s fajitas are a masterpiece. Juicy strips of marinated steak or chicken mingle with caramelized onions and peppers, their charred edges singing with flavor. Wrap them in pillowy-soft homemade tortillas, add a dash of zesty guacamole and tangy pico de gallo, and you’ve got a bite that’s pure magic.

But don’t sleep on the enchiladas—these aren’t your average rolled tortillas. Stuffed with tender shredded chicken or cheese and smothered in a velvety chili gravy or tangy verde sauce, each forkful is a harmony of richness and spice. The enchiladas suizas, crowned with melted cheese and a drizzle of crema, are a creamy, dreamy revelation. For a showstopper, try the mole enchiladas: their sauce, a complex symphony of spices, chocolate, and smoky depth, is nothing short of outstanding. Pair any enchilada with the restaurant’s refried beans (silky, smoky, and lard-free? Yes, please!) and fluffy Mexican rice for a plate that’s comfort incarnate.

Extras Worth Savoring - Start with the chips and salsa—a simple yet telling opener. The salsa is fresh, with a bright kick of lime and just enough heat to wake up your palate. For drinks, the margaritas are a must: tart, strong, and rimmed with salt, they’re the ideal companion to the bold flavors. Save room for the tres leches cake—a cloud of sweetness soaked in three milks and topped with airy whipped cream. It’s the perfect finale.

Service: Heartwarming Hospitality - The staff at El Ranchito treats you like familia. Servers are attentive without hovering, offering thoughtful recommendations, and keeping chips flowing. Even during peak hours, the team manages the chaos with grace, ensuring every guest leaves with a smile (and likely a to-go box—portions here are generous!).

Final Bite - El Ranchito isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a Dallas & Oak Cliff institution. With its killer fajitas, soul-satisfying enchiladas (especially the mole!), and an atmosphere that buzzes with joy, this spot captures the spirit of Tex-Mex at its finest. Whether you’re a spice seeker, a comfort-food connoisseur, or just someone who appreciates a damn good margarita, El Ranchito delivers. Run, don’t walk—and prepare to leave already planning your next visit.

Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) Must-Try: Sizzling fajitas, enchiladas suizas, mole enchiladas, tres leches cake, classic margarita. Pro Tip: Come hungry, bring friends, and embrace the fiesta!

Very, Very Disappointed. The chicken fajitas were dry and the side vegetables were wilted and not fresh. The food is overpriced for the quality of food that you receive. The service was terrible. The server was not attentive and did not follow-up with my party throughout the night. Several times throughout the night we were waiting for drinks. He was not very personable or friendly. The server also came across as if we were an inconvenience. I brought my family from out of town to this establishment and was very embarrassed since I was the one to suggest this restaurant. The worst part of the night was when I addressed my concerns with the "Manager". His response to my concerns were mind blowing. He was not empathetic at all and he offered an empty apology. He could have read from a script and I believe I would of felt better. Obviously, there is a serious disconnect with a positive customer experience and the manager. My confidence in this manager and his efforts at addressing my concerns were severely lacking. It is quite obvious that his lackadaisical approach has trickled down to his staff, ultimately the customer experience. Mr. Ranchito you have several opportunities for improvement, specifically, the quality of food and service. I or my money WILL NOT be returning to this substandard establishment. There are way too many great Mexican food...
