Visited 7 January 2023 Our party of 7 (3 adults, 2 teenagers, 2 children) decided last-minute to get seafood boil. After briefly searching Google for something close to downtown Dallas, we settled for Sunset Crab Shack. It was an easy drive, and there was ample parking. We walked in and were seated quickly downstairs. It seemed very small, but there was also outside seating, and we saw stairs so assumingly upstairs seating, too. Off the bat, our waitress, Blanca, seemed disinterested, like she had someplace better to be. We asked for a new paper to spread across the table since the one we met there was already dirty. It took her forever to bring that, forevermore, to get us some water with lemons and another eternity to take our order. Speaking of lemons, we had to ask for lemons 3 or 4 times. Is there a shortage of lemons? She was stingy with the lemons!! When the food finally came, the fries were cold, the snapper was too salty, and the shrimp in the boil was excessively overcooked. The flavor of the boil was good, but the portions are small. We got the second-level heat (hot), and it was mildly hot. The dirty rice was the best thing I had there. The female bathroom has 3 stalls and only 1 handwriting sink. The male bathroom has 1 stall, but it was closed from inside with nobody using it. There is also a sink in the area before the bathrooms. I can't say I'll be back. The service was subpar, and the food is just okay. There are too many other options to choose from.

ive visited this restaurant at least once a month for the past year and this visit was by far the worst. i only came in for the ceviche .. the bartender had her purse on her hip and a hair clip attached to it but her hair was down??? she came over 1 time during service and once to collect to collect our check.. the older guy kind of short who has helped me before was there to get my family seated and to take our orders while she disappeared in the back. The only reason i’m leaving this negative review is because she dropped the check with $27 but charged the card $28. which is bazaar!! i’m very confused as to why she would do this. Ashley do better!

I wanted to love this place since it's close to home and we love seafood. I think for many people this would be a four star option. It's no knock against Sunset that we've lived in Baltimore, New England, and northern California. I ordered crab cakes over the house salad. The flavor was good, but it wasn't Old Bay. My father seemed to relish his dish of shrimp and sausage. The service was friendly, the TVs display both English and Spanish channels of ESPN, they are great with kids, and the prices are good. It's certainly worth a try.

There was about a 40 minute wait when we arrived.... no problem. The waitress comes and barely acted like she even wanted to serve us. We order or drinks and food so we aren't having to wait too long. My husband's food comes out first and it's the fried shrimp basket and the shrimp is overcooked but cold and so are the fries. He's diabetic so he needed to go ahead and eat. He finishes his food and I've still yet to receive mine, but the people that came after us got theirs (1/2 pound of shrimp, 1/2 pound of sausage- the number 2). I get up and politely speak with a male manager to advise all the issues-mind you at this point we've only seen our actual waitress once and the 2nd time I had to run her down for her to get my husband another drink. Finally my food comes and it's very light weight wise and is not hot at all ( order was wrong and food was not fresh). I go back to the same male manager who basically brushes me off to the female manager because he was busy-okay np. The female manager fixes the order and send my food out nice and fresh and then also sends out another shrimp basket but with only 3 shrimp and not 6( I was going to pay for both). Anywho this shrimp basket was nothing like the first and was fresh and hot. I then see the male manager serving 2 HISPANIC girls behind us and he's pouring their seafood bag onto their plate and apologizing and empathizing with them regarding their wait and any other inconveniences- totally different service than we received. A few moments later out waitress we haven't been able to see comes over and asks (while I'm in the middle of eating the food I've been waiting for, was wrong and had to be corrected) what I told the manager 😅. I get up in the middle of eating and go ask the female manager to get her staff and she apologized. Then some younger male staff member comes and says my manager says she can give you two free drinks. I laughed and said we don't need help with our bill but tell your manager learn more about customer service as well as hiring staff. Just about the entire staff is HISPANIC and seems to treat Hispanics the best compared to...

Sunset Crab Shack An Unassuming Bishop Arts Seafood Spot Serving Big Flavors Sunset Crab Shack might not catch your eye at first—it’s tucked off to the side in the Bishop Arts District. But don’t let the low-key exterior fool you. Once you step inside, you’re in for some bold, flavorful seafood that won’t empty your wallet. The drinks took me straight back to my early 20s—in the best way. Fruity, fun, and exactly what you need to sip on while digging into a boil. Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the seafood boil. PACKED. Full. Of. Flavor. With four seasoning options and trendy add-ons (like ramen noodles), the customization possibilities are chef’s kiss. Here’s What I Ate Seafood Boil: ¼ pound of crab with scallops and the addition of ramen noodles (because why not level it up?). Pros • The seafood was fresh, and the service was quick. • It’s got a low-key, hole-in-the-wall vibe where you can just pull up and eat good—no fuss, no drama. • Plenty of other seafood entrees if you’re not trying to get your hands dirty with a boil. Cons • The spot could use a little extra love in the cleanliness department. It wasn’t spotless, but my table was clean enough for me to enjoy myself. • My boil had too much seasoning, to the point where the sauce was overwhelming. But my friend’s bag? On point. So, I’m guessing this was a fluke. Final Thoughts If you’re craving seafood that’s fresh, flavorful, and won’t have you counting pennies, Sunset Crab Shack is where it’s at. Sure, it’s a little rough around the edges, but that’s part of the charm. Just make sure to catch them on a good day with the seasoning. Rating: 7.8/10. Clean it up and fix that seasoning balance, and this joint could...

Ok. So we had late lunch of the sunset special, crab, fries and drinks for 5. The food was good but not the way I remembered it. I remember it being really really good, but now well it wasn't the case. But my daughter's and husband were satisfied. Any way service was not the best my husband got his drink refilled but for whatever reason the sever never refilled my drink or my oldest daughter's. Whenever we needed something I had my daughter raise her hand, but my husband was like don't do that go get her. So my smaller daughter went to get her. I hate to say it but she only came to our table to serve the food and the food ordered there after. Any other time was when we called her. But all is well until we got our check it was a considerable amount I was like ok let me pay this. Then I saw a 18% fee it did not say for what, I was like did she tip her self. Usually auto tip is for a party of 6 or more. I was like we only 5 people. Server said it was a mistake someone else printed the pay receipt she was going to go correct it. Any way I was like ok. I will tip her what I want then I asked her to fix it, when she came back I clearly her the pen slam on the table. I told my husband did she just slam the receipt and pen on the table. He was like yeah I heard that, my older daughter was like yeah. So to finalize I don't mind paying a server for a good service of $30 or $50 or 18% but the server need to at least refill my drink one or be nicer when they place the check or pay bill down on the table. To end this I think the servers need to take care of their tables so their clients can show their...
