I have been a fan of Greek food for quite a while. My only real exposure has been to The Little Greek, which I like just fine, and I visit frequently. Some work friends took me to The Flaming Cheese restaurant, and let me tell you...Whoa! This place ROCKS! Everything was great! We ordered flaming cheese as an appetizer...cheese that is lit on fire in the middle of the restaurant and served with fresh pita (I think it was pita...it was some sort of bread none the less). We also had a humus appetizer that was delicious. Several folks ordered gyros that, by all accounts, were thoroughly enjoyed. Me and my partner ordered the gyro meat salad. OMG! The meat was super tender and deliciously seasoned. I am not a big eater and half way through I said to myself that I should stop and get a "to go" box. But! The food was so good that I decided that I would rather be uncomfortably full for a few hours than have to reheat the food later. I mentioned The Little Greek earlier (which I really enjoy) only to make the comparison that getting food at the Flaming Cheese is like going to get BBQ at Pecan Lodge rather than Dickies. Menu is varied, prices are reasonable, and service is great....

The service is wonderful. Frequent refills, prebussing... They are always paying attention. I suspect that is largely bc they've never been busy when we ve been there. I don't understand why. This place has good food, great service, and it's reasonably priced. We have tried a good variety of food from here and none has been subpar. I didn't care for the flaming cheese but, the gf did. Personal taste. The gf has settle on a vegetarian assortment while I switch it up. I find the falafel wrap to be tasty and interesting. Definitely give this place a try.

P. S. I hate murals so, the 4 stars factors in the -0.25⭐s for the mural. I legitimately feel bad bringing down the current 4.8 star rating bc I like this place... I just dont 5 star love it. Now, I feel like I should include some suggestions that would make me 5 star love it. This is hard. 1) ditch the mural. It's hard to look at...and the soundtrack 2)highbacked, cozy booths that make a more relaxed, intimate dining experience 3) more refined plating. I need to qualify all this by saying, I've consulted the gf and her only complaint is the soundtrack. She 5 star loves this place. Maybe...

Crazy experience coming up after the food review!

I am really looking forward to more meals at Flaming Cheese! The food was great. We ordered some Staples like spinach pie, flaming cheese, and gyro related dishes. Delicious. Everything was tasty and what I have been looking for in a Greek spot. Our server was a young lady who was helpful and seemed nice, too.

Let's talk atmosphere. From the outside, it looks like it might be a hole in the wall. The strip the restaurant is attached to just looks crappy, but it's nice in there!

Here is the crazy thing. I think this means we HAVE to go back. While my group hung out, ordered, ate, and chatted, we counted at LEAST 6 repeats of the same Muzak version of Celine Dion's My heart will go on. It wasn't like it came up a lot in the playlist, either. It was on repeat.

Repeat.

It played for our entire visit, and got funnier every time it restarted. I lost count after 6, but my buddy Taylor said he was pretty sure we were there for 9 or 10 plays in a row.

I have to go back to see if anything else plays on their music system.

The food was delicious, but this is a mystery that I need to solve. I'll try to update this...

My husband and I stopped in from Oklahoma, it was our first time here and this just happened to be close to our hotel. Choosing food in a location you’re not used to can be intimidating to a couple of introverts but I was happy with the choice. The food was great, portions a little small, but service was good, the place seemed warm and welcoming. I wish the falafel would had been even just a tad larger. Some were close to the size of a cheese curb and sadly, I’m not exaggerating and I love falafel but they really did taste great. The hummus was nice and creamy and I loved how thick their tzatziki sauce was. The green beans were like none I’ve ever tasted before. They had a tomato base that surprised me with how well it paired together. But what stole the show was the baklava cheesecake- seeing the pics of it online really lured us in. And it was not disappointing by a long shot. Cheesecake? Baklava? Together?! 🤤😌 If we ever make it back that way, I’d like to try the namesake flaming cheese.

Got my order to go/picked it up. I got the lemon soup and chicken over salad. It was all packaged securely and ready really quickly after I ordered. I loved how hot the soup was served. The salad with pita had delicious dress and Tzatziki sauce. The pita was warm and tasted buttery, it was not crispy. The salad was fresh and the chicken was flavorful and warm. The soup was not as thick as other lemon soups I’ve had before and just as satisfying and comforting to eat. It had a bit of rice and vegetables. The place itself was clean and quiet when I picked up. I’ll be back for both dine in and pick up.
