What a find! Didn't know what we were getting into but from the moment we walked in the door we were greeted by a woman who was very welcoming and warm. She sat us and informed our waitress that it was our first time dining there. The waitress (Rosie) didn't miss a beat. She was informative, relaxed, and timely. She recommended the Ravioli di Carni and a other dishes. We started with the Lamb Meatballs. I'm not a huge fan of lamb, but these meatballs made my top 5 list...I will order them again even. I ended up ordering the ravioli, my girlfriend went with the gnocchi alla salsiccia. We tried each other's plates and were beyond pleased. The ravioli had complex flavor throughout, and the sauce on her gnocchi was something special... Curious for more, we indulged in dessert. We ordered the Chocolate Torte to split. We received a thin slice of chocolate tort and roughly a tablespoon of ice cream with a coffee bean on top. First reaction - What the heck? First bite - I totally get it. It's not about quantity on this dish. This is the best chocolate torte I've ever had. The deepest of cacao flavors, so incredibly rich. Perfectly balanced by just a tease of the ice cream on top of each bite. The ice cream was phenomenal and had a coffee flavor to it, which just amplified the torte to the HEAVENS!
We will be back. Thank you Rosie for providing a truly magical dining experience!!
EDIT: Two years after our initial visit, we returned for Mother's Day, regretting only that we had waited so long to come back. The staff were as delightful as ever. We called ahead to confirm seating availability and they graciously accommodated our last-minute reservation. Just like our previous visit, we were welcomed like family and received exceptional care. We were fortunate to have the same waitress, Rosie, and I recognized who I believe to be the owner from our last visit. I made sure to thank her personally for accommodating us. We can't wait to return, whether for a casual lunch or another...
Read moreMoMo's on Forest Lane is always a delightful experience.
Now that they have moved to the location that has adequate parking, you can actually access this great Italian restaurant. Too many times in the past we were wanting to dine there, but there was simply not one single parking spot available. In Texas, if you are in retail, and especially if you own a restaurant, either you offer adequate parking or you live a hand-to-mouth existence regardless of the quality of your offerings or how hard you work.
Friends and relatives from out of town always demand to eat at Momo's during visits to Dallas, they are that good.
While they are not on the menu, if you ask for the mushroom appetizers, you will love them. They only offer them when mushrooms of the exceptionally high quality the chef demands are available, so frequently they are simply not available
As MoMo's does NOT have a liquor license, you get to bring your own bottle of wine to enjoy with dinner. While we might order a drink with dinner only a third of time eating out, due to the cost, we always enjoy wine with dinner at MoMo's.
We who live in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas are plagued by the absence of near-by healthy, sit-down family restaurants. Unless we eat at MoMo's, we face at least a twenty minute drive to a favorite healthy restaurant, then another twenty minute drive to get home.
This is not a good use of time. So we campaign for more healthy, sit-down dining family restaurants to open in the underserved Lake Highlands area. In the meantime we enjoy those not-on-the-menu mushrooms at Momo's, where you now can find a parking space.
We have dined at MoMo's over fifty times. Not one single time have we ever had a...
Read moreFrozen overpriced food. This food is not house made per advertised. This food is bought from a third party vender and reheated.
Their bread that they serve is not made in house. Bought from somewhere.
We ordered the peach burrata. It was okay. Some of the peaches were not ripe enough. But it’s a simple dish enough. Buy a mozzarella ball, tomatoes and peaches. Fair enough.
Also ordered the fried calamari. It had that older fishy smell to it. And was definitely frozen food. The breading wasn’t even attached to it. So maybe they did make it in house? 3 weeks ago and froze it. But I feel like that’s even giving them too much credit. Incredibly chewy too. Luckily the manager took it off our bill without us even asking. Great manager.
Ordered the ravioli with chicken and my girlfriend ordered the Alfredo.
The ravioli was hard as a rock. They defrosted it and threw it in the microwave. And gave me some precooked bagged chicken. It was that plastic grainy texture. At least give me the higher grade frozen chicken... And my girlfriend’s pasta was at least from the nicer pasta section of the grocery store.
I wouldn’t be so upset if it wasn’t for them advertising higher quality food and then charging the price they do for it. The manager could tell we didn’t like food because we both took a few bites and were over it. We later went to some random Indian restaurant to eat because we were starving. Which was great. Skip this place.
Nice manager though. I hope he finds a better place to work though. Because the owners are trying to cut way too many corners and sell overpriced...
