The Samplehouse and Candleshop is a lovely store, but unfortunately, I had a disappointing interaction with an employee today. I went in to return a candle because I wasn’t satisfied with it—the scent didn’t carry well. The receipt didn’t mention anything about candle usage, only that I had 45 days in order to return for a refund, so naturally I assumed could receive a refund after burning it once.
When I asked if store credit was an option, the employee’s tone quickly became condescending. She rudely questioned, “Why would you want to return a candle you used?” and added, “It should go without saying that you can’t return it.” What really prompted me to write this review was when she told me, in so many words, to “make better choices.”

There were two store employees who talked the entire time by the register, looked up at us and said nothing. Usually I confront but we looked around for about 30 min, but because they didn’t greet, not once, we decided to not purchase anything.
