I ordered a soft drink and a salad to go and the cashier forgot to add the drink to the order. I brought it to her attention and she offered to give it to me for free. I replied, "no I will pay for it" but she insisted that I take the drink for free. I also requested cutlery for my order and did not receive it. Upon examination of my order I realized that did not have enough salad dressing, nor had the requested cutlery been included so I went back inside the restaurant re request a fork and extra dressing. The cashier leaned over and whispered to her co-worker "yeah she's one of those CHARITY CASES". Not sure if I was being considered a charity case because I ordered a drink and she forgot to add it to my bill or if it was because I wanted to eat my food with a fork. Secondly, after waiting patiently for the second request for a fork, a decided to go wait on the patio for 20 minutes while the server avoided all eye contact and my table until I called her to the table to ask her for assistance. I kindly reminded her that was not able to START EATING because I still did not have anything to eat with. The server’s response was that I asked for the fork and walked away and that why she didn't give it to me. Not I'm sorry for the oversite which would have been the appropriate response if the CHARITY CASE CONVERSATION WAS NOT HER TRUE OPINION OF ME. Thirdly, the servers began to take away all the patio furniture while I was eating on the patio and I had to ask them if it was closing time. * NO INDICATION OF AN EARLY CLOSURE ON THE SIGNAGE, NOR FROM THE SERVERS*. Lastly, the owner came out to the patio and told me that the restaurant is closing and I could just take my food and go because they had to go to church. I have never felt so disrespected or devalued over a salad, a drink and a fork to eat it with in my life and would not recommend this...
Read moreI have been coming to Neuhaus cafe regularly for their slices of cake to go. Almost $9 per slice is practically highway robbery but the cake is good and the portion sizes were acceptable until tonight. I’m not normally the type to say something at a restaurant but being that I like this place and wanted to come back I figured I would politely say something. When I walked back up to the counter to let the girl working know that the slice was a lot smaller than normal she told me it was pre cut offered me another one of the exact same size and stated “there is nothing I can do”. “Okay” I said and walked out.. My favorite part is that as I was leaving the girl said to another customer “the slice of cake wasn’t big enough for her” very professional. I tried to give this establishment the opportunity to correct the issue and needless to say I’m very saddened with the response. I will be buying my $9 cake slices elsewhere...
Read moreCame here because of a Scoutmob deal we found, looking for a light dinner. Coming in I was a bit confused because it's a cafe, though more of a restaurant, but also a chocolate and candy shop, and also sells some souvenirs.....
Anyway, I ended up getting the tilapia sandwich, and had some of the cafe style crackers while I wanted. Average wait time for the food, even though there was really no one there, but once arrived I noticed why. The fish tasted fresh and had clearly just been cooked, as well as the lettuce and onions on it being fresh. The foccaccia bread was warm and soft, almost toasty. And I don't know much about thousand island dressing, but I liked theirs.
Also, got a chocolate truffle cake to go! Which was delicious and rich in flavor, and just the right amount of moist.
Overall, pretty tasty place, might come back if I'm in the...
