Best chili I’ve ever had, vegan or otherwise. Seasoned PERFECTLY, and how in the %# do you get it to taste like real beef??
First impressions mean a lot, and Kendra is so nice and welcoming, professional and attentive, and so knowledgeable about every nuance and ingredient on the menu. Her friendly, laid-back demeanor and proactive attention to detail during their takeout process is always appreciated, and they text you when your food is ready so all you do is approach the door and you’re instantly greeted with her smiling face and your piping hot food.
Kendra gives everyone the royal treatment Every. Single. Time. The service and the food here are excellent, and this restaurant is consistent with their food quality. Nunos is the best kept secret in north Texas. You will not be disappointed.
First, the variety of different menu selections and flavor profiles is impressive, like a healthy miniature version of the Cheesecake Factory.
Kevin’s Chili is by far the best chili I’ve ever had, vegan or otherwise — and that’s saying a lot in Texas. Friends simply did not believe chili that tastes so good could be vegan, and now they’re hooked.
It’s amazing what the owner, Chef Nuno, can do with plant-based food. This man is a magician and has a gift for making vegan food taste like, well, not vegan. It’s like art, and he has it down to a science. His ability to customize flavors to different palates from different regions of Texas and Mexico is impressive.
The sweet potato flautas are crispy, light and flaky yet hearty and tasty — and as good or better than any Mexican restaurant, anywhere. You’ll find yourself asking, “how can this be both vegan AND gluten-free?”
Nuno has helped me lose 30 lbs. in 30 days, and I haven’t had to give up my favorite food, Mexican food, because of Nuno. Amazing. I thought when I stopped eating meat and cheese that I’d miss Mexican food the most — and now I don’t have to miss it at all. Thank you, Nuno!!!
I also love trying the different sauces from fire roasted salsa to the vegan queso to the chilaquil verde sauce to the chipotle mayo, and even the sour cream tastes like the real thing.
Finally, the soy-free and gluten-free pistachio shake, made with Oatly ice cream and real pistachios, is as good as any gelato I’ve ever had, including in Rome.
I can’t say enough about the food, and the personal way Kendra and Nuno greet you and make you feel like family. It’s so easy to order and pay online through their website or the Toast app, and the quality of ingredients and attention to every detail of each dish is unmatched.
I would give them 10...
Read moreI was really impressed by everything about Nunos. Had high expectations after reading previous reviews but it exceeded my expectations in every way. I ordered a few tacos to be able to try a few different "meats." I first called to ask about the taco size and their recommended top sellers, and the woman on the phone was very nice and let me know their top taco sellers are the fajita, carnitas, and chipotle jackfruit. I'm not usually a big fan of jackfruit, so I ultimately ordered a BBQ taco (BBQ available only on Saturdays), a fajita taco on flour, a carnitas street taco, and a beyond crunchy taco. Everything was delicious, though this is too much food for one person (I'd recommend 3 tacos, as even the street tacos are well filled). The BBQ taco had a nice flavored sauce, smoky flavor to the meat, cornbread and mac n cheese--it seemed like a mish mosh but it all went together really well. The fajita was probably my favorite--excellent texture and flavor to the meat. The carnitas were also delicious and the street taco preparation was very good--on a doubled flavored corn tortilla. The beyond taco tasted like your standard American crunchy taco which is hard to find in a good vegan version. They fry their own crunchy shell so it tasted fresh which was great. My issue with a lot of vegan places is that many vegan meats taste similar or are always the same texture. What Nunos has achieved is making each one distinct in flavor and texture and so you don't feel like you are missing out. They also put different salsas and toppings on all of the meats and they were all delicious--some nice and spicy. The difference between a good taco and an excellent one is the little touches: the salsa, the pickled onions, etc. The tacos were thoughtfully put together and well packaged for takeout (they are currently only doing takeout, though you can eat it at their small outside tables if available). And I thought the prices were very reasonable, even cheap considering the quantity and quality of the food! You definitely need to order in advance online, as it can take over an hour for your order to be ready (mine was 70 minutes midday on a Saturday), but the ordering process was very easy and it is easy to customize. The service upon pickup was excellent, and my order was ready right in the estimated time window, and I think it's awesome that all of their packaging is recyclable or biodegradable. They have a giant menu and I look forward to trying some of their...
Read moreOn 07/04/2020 I called in to place an Ordered, my cousin and I ordered two taco plates which comes with 5 tacos and a side of rice and beans and your choice of meat flavor. I requested one of the plates to substitute beans for fries. When arrived to pick up our order we pulled up to the curb and my cousin gets out of the car to grab the order the lady at the door rudely tells her she cannot stop right here and that they will get a ticket if customers stop at the curb. She stated she was told to park the car and walk up to the door to grab the order. We were advised this over the phone was that we had to park and go up to the door and grab the order and previously they always did curbside pick-up. When she got the order she was told that one of the taco plates they were out of that meat flavor requested so they went ahead and swapped it out for something else. It would have been nice if they called us ahead of time and asked us if that is what we wanted to do as they did take our name and number down before we started to place our order. When we checked the second taco plate instead of giving us fries and rice they only gave us fries and up charged us a $1 more. I went back up to the door and the girl had an attitude again before I even started to explain anything. I told her I requested to sub the beans only for fries and still wanted the rice she stated rudely I told you over the phone that it was an upcharge of $1 to sub and that it would replace both items. That was a lie she never stated that and that makes no sense to pay $1 more to only get fries when it comes with rice and beans. She then with an ugly attitude was like fine do you want rice or beans, IDK why she was asking when I already mentioned to her I wanted rice and obviously substituted the beans for fries. At this point I was very upset with how ugly we were treated we are paying customers and drove all the way from McKinney to come support this business the customer service was horrible and we will no longer be returning here learn how to...
