My first experience at plomo was pretty good last night. I went around 12:45 to grab some quesadillas and have heard great things about Plomo. When I got there, the place was pretty packed with many people waiting for food (good sign!). It took about 10 mins to get to the check out and when we got there we ordered and got a little buzzer. I was kind of suprised there was only one person at the front to take orders as the line was really long. Since it’s next to all the bars many people come for a late night snack when they are done drinking. It was about 12$ for 4 pretty big sized quesadillas. I think I got the el marro and then switched refried beans for black beans (maybe a mistake?). We waited about 20 minutes and since there wasn’t much seating we were standing in the area where people come to pick up their order. 2 issues I saw: there were two different people that came up saying they got the wrong order. 1 had asked for no chicken on his because he was vegetarian and had recieved chicken. The kitchen staff recognized they had made the mistake as his order did say no chicken on the screen. The second person that came up had ordered a cheese quesadilla with jerk chicken and Mac and cheese. When she went to grab her order, it was the wrong quesadilla (had pico and some other extra stuff) and then also got churros instead of Mac and cheese? The guy who was putting in the orders came over and said he could refund her for the churros, but what sucks is he didn’t even apologize for putting in the completely wrong order. No part of her order was placed correctly. Then she had to go wait another 20 minutes while her friends were eating. I know the place is new so I can say they are probably working out how to efficiently place orders and food but honestly the people in the front looked very overwhelmed and weren’t paying much attention to detail.
My own experience was pretty good. I got my order and it came out correctly. We got buffalo ranch on the side (recommended by the guy at the front) and I’m thankful we did. When I initially tried the quesadilla it was lacking flavor. Maybe because I got black beans but the whole inside was very bland. On the bright side with the sauce it was really yummy but I wish the quesadillas flavor was a bit more 🤌🤌. Maybe some seasoning in the black bean spread or something else that would add to it. I did really like the crunchiness though!
Overall I’d say plomo is a fun concept and a smart one too. Who doesn’t love quesadillas when they are drunk? 🤠 but they definitely have some things they need to work on (seasoning, ordering, organization). I think I’d opt for a taco until those...
Read moreFor the most part I usually really like this place. I come pretty often as the food is really good. One of the best quesadillas I’ve ever had and so worth it to make it dirty! On the downside I will say that it’s very annoying that on several occasions they didn’t provide my extra sauces that I purchased. After the 4th or 5th time I started checking every time and having to ask them at pickup to provide me with them. Even though I already paid for them with my online order so I’m not sure how they get missed so often, but I usually have just let it go. However my most recent experience has been unexpectedly bad. I spent $18 for a quesadilla (i added quite a few things to it as I always do so it costs a little more). My boyfriend picked it up for me and unfortunately although he checked for my sauces and thankfully they were this time but when he got home it appears they completely forgot to put the meat on my quesadillas. So just a cheese and corn and doritos quesadilla. We ordered from them pretty late so I wasn't too surprised when they didn’t answer the phone when I tried to call them as they were going to be closing in 15 minutes. I figured, no worries I’ll call them tomorrow and just take a video of my quesadilla in case they need proof. Called them the next morning, no answer. Tried calling several times throughout the day, no answer. Even left a voicemail, no call back. Here we are now two days later and I’m still calling, no answer, no call back. Maybe I’ll finally get a response after making this review. Initially I just thought, okay maybe they can just remake my order for me. But without speaking to anyone, I don’t want to waste time driving there and not knowing what will be done to rectify this issue. I’ve already been cheated out of at least $5 worth of sauces over the course of the times I’ve come, and I let it go but now here I am being cheated out of $18 worth of food. Like I said, the food is good so I really am hoping for this to be resolved but if not, I just won’t...
Read moreSaw the hype from a TikTok video and I really need to rethink checking out videos from Tik tok! This place was on my top 3 places to try and it was overly disappointing!!!!!!
You park and walk next to High-fives loving the atmosphere. You get inside Plomo’s and the smell is very stale. Not the smell of delicious food cooking.. anyway, we ordered the El Marro, classic brisket, elote and a side of rice.
DO NOT GET THE ELOTE! This is not elote and it’s disgusting!! It tastes like store brand canned corn.. I will never be back mainly for how badly they have the elote executed and are selling it that way. Truly just wrong. It’s gross.
The rice has a weird taste.. an even weirder taste after the second bite.
The classic brisket was super Smokey flavored which is fine but it needed something.
El Marro was good.. but not like OMG THAT WAS SO GOOOD! I got the food last night and I literally just remember thinking “at least we can eat that!”
Their 2 spiciest sauces are weird and gross..
I love sauces, love spice.. the only thing I don’t like are mushrooms.. so my opinion here is super valid. This place has low grade quesadillas, the meat, cheese and tortilla are correctly cooked so you will leave full. It’s just not somewhere I’d ever think...
