Southern Maid Donut Shop — Restaurant in Dallas

I’ve been going there for 30plus years and the taste has changed drastically.. there too sweet now, cost too much, some are much smaller the doughnut hole are too high now, they sell out a lot these days, poorer people do all the buying but prices are jumping up every time I go there!! Nice people that wait on you but their personality is like a stiff board. I still go buy them, but not that many compared to where I used to buy 89 now I’ll buy one or 2 prices are just way too high. It only cost a knuckle to make a doughnut but anyway enough of me talking like I said, still buy them, especially at 5 o’clock in the morning When they’re hot but too sweet still always run out in the early morning. They only have a few selections the twist or smaller. The cinnamon rolls are smaller. Seems like every time you look around whoever takes over the business the taste suffers make up...

This place has no price list showing because they make them up as they go along. I asked the price of a jalapeño croissant & it was $3,80. Then I pointed to the one without jalapeños and said, “this little thing is $3.80?” She said, “$2.30.” It was the first time I had ever been in there so she did not recognize me. I just went ahead and got a chocolate plain donut with sprinkles on top and it was $1.50. I said you’re kidding. She said,”Everything go up.” So I got a chocolate donut with sprinkles on top.
