came in with my boyfriend this morning for a pastry and latte. when we walked in, it was pretty slow.
at the register, the cashier asked if we wanted any drinks to go with our pastries, and my boyfriend asked for a hot black coffee. i asked for an iced mocha latte with oat milk. she asked if i wanted it hot, even though i had said iced when ordering, and so i corrected her and said "iced".
at this time, we and another woman were the only customers in the shop. the woman behind us ordered a hot latte with almond milk - keep this in mind.
my boyfriend got his black coffee not too long after paying, and it was not hot. probably closer to lukewarm. it was pretty apparent that the drip coffee had been brewed much earlier this morning and had since cooled down. boyfriend insisted he didn't want to ask for a new cup.
what came soon after was some of the silliest shenanigans at an almost-empty coffee shop I've experienced. we could overhear the two baristas making the lattes asking each other what I and the other patron had ordered. they were getting confused on essentially every component of our individual orders. overhearing their confusion, I spoke up and mentioned I had ordered the iced mocha latte with oat milk. Barista A then gave me a nasty look. the other patron also spoke up and said she ordered a plain latte with almond milk. more time passed, the baristas continued acting very confused and asking each other which order had what. finally, Barista A called out "iced latte with oat milk" which had me AND the other patron confused, as that was neither of our orders. the other patron informed Barista B that she did not order an iced latte with oat milk, and instead ordered a hot latte with almond milk. Barista B apologized and said they would remake it as Barista A continued to look annoyed. however, neither barista made an effort to remake the drink for her. after a few minutes passed, the baristas again called out the same exact order, to which the other patron responded again that that is still incorrect and not her order. after Barista B mentioned they would remake it, the woman stated she was already running late (they were taking a LONG time to make our drinks) and wouldn't have time to wait, and started walking out. Barista B yelled out that they would be refunding her.
Barista A then yells out "iced mocha latte" and i still hear the two baristas asking each other which latte had which milk. because of how chaotic everything had been, i asked Barista A if it my latte had almond milk. she bluntly responded "yeah" and i told her i had asked for oat milk. she gave me ANOTHER rude look and then said she would remake it. since i had already touched the beverage, I wasn't sure what to do with it as she didn't take the cup back from me or tell me to keep it. I was taking it over to Barista B so I could ask her to dispose of it, but then Barista A, again very rudely, tells me "give me that cup. i'm remaking it".
despite it taking ~10 minutes originally for the first (incorrect) latte, the remade latte took closer to 1-2 minutes. after receiving it, i wasn't given an apology for the inconvenience. i also noticed the color of the remade mocha was several shades lighter than the original, as if they skimped out on the mocha sauce this time around. based on the way the rude barista was acting, i wouldn't have been surprised if this was intentional since i 'inconvenienced" her by asking her to remake my drink.
after all of this, i asked my boyfriend if he was sure he didn't want to ask them to remake his coffee since we spent a decent amount of money in there for the food and drinks. he told me that it probably would have sent the baristas into a spiral, and wasn't worth it at this point.
it may be worth the baristas getting into the habit of calling out the full drink order, since if i had not asked about the milk in my latte, i wouldn't have known that it was made with the incorrect milk which can be a problem for customers with allergies. overall, service needs some practice.

Read moreOne of my favorite bakeries in Dallas, but I won’t be returning to this location due to the treatment received from the employees during my visit yesterday (9/13 in the evening). The shop was empty when my friends and I arrived, but I still had to wait a good 5-10 minutes standing at the kiosk to place an order. The 2 employees working were talking to each other and one of their friends at the checkout counter, and seemed annoyed/inconvenienced when I asked them if I could place my order. Later on, after about 15-20 minutes of waiting at this point, my friend noticed she still hadn’t gotten her croissant so we went up to ask when it would be ready. The workers looked annoyed, once again, that we had interrupted their conversation to ask for an order we paid for. They asked if we had paid and it took another few minutes for the lady to remember that my friend had already paid for her croissant. There was no apology. When they finally brought out the croissant, it wasn’t heated up like we had requested. At this point, we didn’t care to say anything since the workers were so busy in their own conversation and anything we said was treated as an annoyance. The trash can was also filled to the brim and spilling our trash, so we took our trash outside.
Again, one of my favorite bakeries in Dallas, but I will not be returning to this location due to the annoyance, eye rolling, and blatant disrespect experienced from the...
Read moreThis post is not about their product. I haven’t tried the bread yet - so I’ll do an update for that.
UPDATE HOURS LATER: See the pic. Bread is burnt pretty badly on the bottom. Not worth $8 loaf, unfortunately. I wish I would have looked in my stapled bag before leaving. There are too many locally owned great bakeries in the area to settle. I’ll pick up my bread on Saturday from other businesses with better product and service (some others are closed on Sunday).
Businesses: if you list that curbside pick up is available, it should be available! I ordered a curbside pick up online this morning because I’m not feeling great, and just in case I’m sick, did not want to be inside of a business. I ordered curbside pick up, and when I arrived, it said call the store. I got a voicemail through the toast app for a village baking company that says they are not available for the phone. I called multiple times, and even checked the Google maps site for a phone number, and the same one was listed. I ended up walking in the store 20 minutes later to grab my order, and the young lady says we don’t even own a phone. If you don’t have a phone, why do you have a working phone number listed? And why do you have curbside pick up listed? This is not a good first impression for me, because it shows you are unorganized. Hopefully the bread...
