Denny's — Restaurant in Dana Point

I came at about 4pm on Thanksgiving Day to pick up 2 full turkey dinners from Denny's in Dana Point. I honestly wasn't expecting much because it's Dennys right? Given the choice, I think most of us would prefer a Thanksgiving feast prepared at home and with love over just about anywhere else. But that was not the case this year. No turkey in the oven roasting all day, filling our home and senses with savory thoughts of quenching our appetite with home-cooked turkey, mashed potatoes and everything else so wonderful that would be set out on our table. And pumpkin pie for later of course! So I entered the door to Dennys, handed my on-line printed confirmation page to Damon who turned out to be the restaurant manager. He was warm, cheerful,and welcoming. And I don't know about you but it seems to me that customer service isn't as much of a priority as it used to be in our country. Jose completed my transaction with the same genuine warmth I felt when I walked into thru the door. I waited all of about 3 minutes and went home to have dinner with my family. I'm not going to lie, this was not Mom or Grandmas special home cooking but it was pretty darn good. And the best part about it is I didn't have to go home and prepare all of the frozen food that came out of the bags nor I did I have to wait 3 or 4 hours for the food to thaw and then attempt to have the turkey and all the sides ready and hot at the same time. There was minimal reheating and more than enough food to go around, though I did order extra mashed potatoes just to make sure! I was more than pleasantly surprised and just the fact that I was treated with such kindness made everything taste even better. It was pouring rain all day and the staff at Denny's on Del Obispo in DP worked their tails off all day I'm sure. But at the end of the day they still found time to help make sure I had a very good dinner and an experience that will bring me back in the future.

When I arrived at 130 am to pick up a door dash delivery there the place was busy with about 12 young men finishing up their meals and two tables of four couples. I waited 20 minutes before being greeted or having my presence acknowledged by an employee. The host/ waitress was consumed with 12 individual checks for the young men leaving and serving the remaining diners and making change for checks being paid. The only other employee I'm the entire establishment that I could see was the cook. Usually I have a lot of patience with situations like these but I was working and Door dash gives you a time to pick up your delivery and a time it has to be delivered. I had six violations for being late in one month because of the changing construction detours on the 5 highway and was removed from the platform to accept orders for a month! I was not allowed to work for 30 days because I was 10 to 15 minutes late picking up an order or delivering an order. I wish merchant working with delivery apps like these would keep this in mind when getting orders to the drivers. We are not trying to be rude we are just trying to make a.living somehow with gas prices the way they are and tips are all we live off of. Rant over ..... I am sure this was just once in awhile situation for this place or it still wouldn't be there after all these years. Very clean place and...

I just had the best experience here at Dennys. I have been here before but was just an average experience nothing new just waited on drinks and food and ate and left. But today, I was served by ROYA. Seriously the best employee there! The professionalism they provided and the excellent customer service was beyond amazing . This was very refreshing to see and experience. They were the only one there serving and the service was still quick and quality was amazing. They also had some unruly customers that were causing a bit of dysfunction by over drinking and they handled the situation with respect and still managed to make sure we were ok. The level of awesome ROYA is, is just out of this world. Thank you so much ROYA for your kindness your attentiveness and your level of professionalism. I greatly appreciate you and am so glad and honored to be served by such an amazing and charismatic human such as yourself. May God bless you always! Managers take note and give this wonderful human a raise and promotion. You definitely need more employees...
