Does that store actively recruit the most depressed and rude people in the community? Is the store management abusive and demoralizing? There's something seriously wrong with the staff at the Capistrano Beach location...we visited the store 3 times over a 2 week period as we were pricing gear for a youth soccer camp, and each time it was a very strange experience. We did buy a few items there but we will not return.

Also of some importance to visitors from out of town: the area that the store is located in is rundown and neglected. There was a homeless men standing near the trash can near the store entrance during one visit, so we had to wait near our car until the man moved along. There is a lot of empty retail space in the immediate area with vagrants milling about. It is rumoured that the area is slated for redevelopment , so the property owners probably don't want to invest any money in the shopping center.

My advice? Give this place a miss unless...

For most of the year, they're not busy. But during the summer months, they are unusually busy just like all the other places around this area. They have an okay selection during the summer months for most of the things the masses are into or want to get into, but then the selection gets really limited after the busy months from tourists are over. Customer service is just okay, although they do step it up when they're busy. It's a pretty large store, but kind of in a sketchy part of town. It's not super bad, it's just not a pretty area. There's a really terrible, awful bar behind it (I suggest to stay away from that) and a dollar store a few doors down. People seem nice, it just might look a little intimidating to some people at first. And anyway, it's the only sports store in the area so you might not have a choice unless you wanna hop on the freeway and take your chances...

Not a bad sporting store, but the service is crumby.

I am rating this low due to a product I purchased. I purchased a knife, and the product was used. One of the screws had been attempted to be removed and it was stripped in the process. The screw stuck out a little but without looking over carefully, you would miss it. I did not notice this in the store but I noticed 5 minutes after I left when I repeatedly caught my finger on the screw. I came back to the store immediately and asked to exchange for a new one. The employee stated that he would not usually return the product even though he sold me a tampered product. We made the exchange but I felt uncomfortable as a customer and was not treated with much respect. That being said, I do enjoy shopping here usually, but the customer service is...
