This review isn't even deserving of a single star. The food was dry, bland, and cold. It was not a pleasant experience for any of us. The microwave warmed crab ragoon was the only brightness in the dinner. They told me that they microwave the food that had been sitting for a while before serving us. I ordered bbq spare ribs, which arrived in three minutes, three!! Yes, three minutes, exactly as it sounds, plus it was burnt and cold. We were served unsalted noodles with horrible vegetables and meat. Hair was in our meal, and they smashed our dishes and took our food at inappropriate times. I also ordered lemonade and received pink lemonade, and they failed to create a fresh batch. Their drink options have no versatility… the water tasted awful because it came from the tap. Our previous waiter was violently confrontational and giving us dirty looks, so I had to request that they change our servers. They were scowling and staring DOWN at us the WHOLE TIME and constantly attempting to push us out, despite the fact that their business had been slow recently and no one else was in there but two women who were not treated this way. I don't want to bring up race, but it's necessary in this case considering they wouldn't even refill our water while filling theirs. My aunt was confronted by the waitress woman, who provoked and threatened her; she cursed us with her eyes. They didn't put us where we wanted to be put, so we had to move on our own. It would have been different if there were people there, but it was so empty that our voices echoed, so they turned up the background music. The seats were filthy, and the table we ate at was cleaned with old, filthy rags. I felt really unsafe, especially because I didn't trust the woman who was bringing me the meal that I would shortly consume. They didn't greet us and acted as if they didn't want to be there, work, or take our order. They served lukewarm soup to my 60-year-old grandmother, which she dislikes. She didn't finish it, but she ate it since she was hungry just after her 3-hour long train ride with my younger cousin from New York! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ⚠️ I'd go on and on about our dreadful experience, but I rest my case; I was a loyal customer, but that's beside the point. Thank you for taking the time...
Read moreI took my mother there for Mother's Day at 4:00pm. The restaurant was mostly empty. We ordered two appetizers which were mediocre at best. I hoped the entrees would be better. One of the entrees was a Filet Mignon dish for $29.95 and the other was Chicken, Beef & Shrlimp with thin Crispy Noodles for $27.95. We received both entrees and the Fillet Mignon was again mediocre at best. The dish with the Crispy thin noodles was horrible. The noodles were very thick. There was maybe a small handful of noodles which were thick & rubbery. I asked for a menu to make sure I read correctly and it said THIN Crispy noodles. The whole dish was horrible, the shrimp tasted like iodine and seemed old and past their expiration date. I called over the waitress and she told me I don't know what I'm talking about. She said, they are the correct noodles and because they were deep fried, then the sauce on top made them soft. I explained they were rubbery. She walked away and did not tell the manager. So I waited 10 minutes to see if she would tell anyone and she did not. I then went to the manager myself and told them the issue and I want it removed off my check, because we couldn't eat the dish. The manager refused and I said I'm not paying for something that was that bad. He threatened to call the Police on me if I didn't pay my check in full. I went and sat back down and debated on what to do. They basically were holding me hostage until I paid the check in full. I called the Police and explained what was going on and he asked them to remove the charge for the dish I didn't eat. They refused, they said we'll give you $10 off for the noodle. They told the Police Officer that we ate the entire dish and didn't come to them until we were ready to leave, which was a lie. I brought the Police Officer to my table and showed him the uneaten dish. After 20 minutes of him going back and forth with me and the manager they finally removed the amount off the check. I go outside eat at least 2 - 3 times a week. This was the most horrible place I have ever been. I needed the Police to come and intervene. I would never...
Read moreI’m going to explain how a business fails. When times are good a business can get away with an awful lot and still make plenty of money, but when times are tough not only does the product have to be great the service has to be superb to continue to thrive. Unfortunately, Zen Asian Kitchen doesn’t understand this simple principle and will likely fail because of it. I’ve been a long term customer of their’s, but I’m fed up with the attitude that will ruin this business. I routinely spend $ 50-60 in this establishment each week for the last 3 years ($2500/yr) and have been mistreated by them for the last time. My first miserable experience was about a year ago when I got home with takeout food for my wife, my father-in-law and myself. The garlic sauce for one of the dishes was literally like water. I called immediately and offered to send them a picture to receive a credit, but they insisted I bring the dish back to issue a credit. After a full day of treating patients in my office as a first responder I reluctantly drove the 10 minutes to bring the dish back to them. After they saw who it was that brought the dish back they apologized profusely and said they tried calling me back so that they would issue the credit over the phone. This was a blatant lie. My cell phone did not ring nor was their number in my recent call log. I swore I would never go back, but after a few months I went out to dinner with a friend who wanted to go to Zen and I figured I’d give it another chance. Tonight was my last time they will see me! A spicy, crunchy tuna roll which I’ve gotten there before was not made properly. I called them to let them know and offered to send a picture again. They again insisted they would only issue a credit if I brought the dish back. This time I chose not to drive the dish back and as a result they have seen me for the last time! It is not right to treat your best customers in this way and this will likely cause your...
