Thank you for the friendly service and the wonderful food. One of our front desk people at the hotel we were staying at recommended us come here, and boy, was she right. The food was amazing. The food is filling, however, so make sure you come really hungry. I had the chicken and waffle combo with the peach cobbler. I know I had a bad cheat day on sugar. This comes with a very good bacon and onion jam. Don't put regular syrup on your waffles or chicken as the jam is better to cut down on the sugar. The peach cobbler seems like it is less in sugar. I the cobbler without ice cream. There are better options if you don't want sugar but mostly for lunch. If you want breakfast, get the scrambled egg breakfast. If you want the lunch option, get the select one meat option and 2 sides or the veggie pick 4 combo. My son got the caramelized French toast combo with bacon and berry cobbler with ice cream. My mom got the chicken and dumplings combo with the lima beans, homemade mashed potatoes that have the skins still, and the dessert of the day, which was key lime pie. All of us got sweet tea, which was made the best we have had in a very long time. Thank you for a great meal with amazing, friendly service. We will be back again on our travels.

Had the pear salad - literally was half a pear on a piece of lettuce topped with mayonnaise, shredded cheese, and a cherry. To me that's just not edible but maybe I'm just too picky. But, I can't say I have tried anything else. So if you don't like lettuce, pear, and mayo together, I suggest you stay away from the pear salad - maybe they put a little more effort into their other food 🤷🏻‍♀️. I saw that I could post a picture and I did, cause believe me - I did not miss taking a pic of whatever in the heck that was. And the reason why I had this salad was because I am a vegetarian (dietary reasons) and this was basically their only no meat option, which shame on me for not eating meat I guess. But, I also think it's not too much to ask for a salad to be a little more than lettuce, pear, and mayo. Just a thought.

Soaked my wife.... Sugar Kettle Cafe has all the makings of a great place to eat. Southern decor, Southern food, and Southern atmosphere. Then we ate there and got shocked at how terrible it all was. First the waitress dropped a jug of water that explodes all over the back of my wife, soaking her pants and jacket. We stood between other patrons tables while the mess was cleaned, no we didn't get to just go to another table. Then our food was all room temperature, chicken-n-dumplins is awful if not at least warm. Last when it was time to check out, our waitress was missing. When she finally checked us out, to our surprise we got no discount!!!! We left and bought my wife new pants because of how wet they were and the day was too cold to wear wet clothes. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

From the hustle & bustle of the two servers an a few others back an forth with no customers within the restaurant ruined the quaint atmosphere that it could potentially have.

When we got our table it was like any other restaurant. Our order was taken,

Water an coffee served to my guest was fine, the orange juice was put in a weird wine glass instead of a regular cup?

In the moment of my clumsiness I tipped over my cup an knocked over the frail cup or orange juice. The (our) server an two other women sat near our table bickering for some unknown reason. Not loud, but enough to hear the whole conversation. But not quiet enough to hear my glass cup tipped over.

I cleaned up the mess myself in my embarrassment but only after finding the hidden napkins within the drink bar? With no one paying attention even though they were next to us.

Next was food.

The French toast tasted alright, it was the gelatinous egg goo that did it for me.

Think of liquid hard boiled egg whites with no flavor as a dress for this roll of a French toast.

Bacon was good.

What made me rather upset, the server couldn't even remember to bring, offer any type of condiment for the French toast.

I had to physically get it myself from the server area because again the waitress wasn't paying attention.

My grandmother's grits were horrid. Biscuit was sweet for some reason, An eggs over cooked.

From the lack of people at the restaurant we expected a little more than a C- meal.

For the 25$ we paid. Could have gotten a better meal an service at a...

Went here for the first time today and overall it wasn't too bad. Homey atmosphere which was nice, they were packed and busy so the staff seemed stressed but they still made attempts to be polite and friendly. I wanted something on the lighter side so I ordered the spinach strawberry salad with grilled chicken and my boyfriend got a fried catfish plate and some sides. Everything of his was delicious; the Lima beans were great and the catfish had a nice crispy breading that was well seasoned. Everything about my salad was great except... the chicken. It was horrid and I don't use that word lightly. It tasted like it never saw an actual grill as implied in the title, but rather a microwave that nuked it almost past the point of being edible a few minutes before it was given to me. It was extremely tough and dry. I joked to my boyfriend that if I threw a piece of it at somebody, it would probably knock them out. Thankfully the salad had enough of the other fixings to fill me up so that was at least a plus: the spinach looked and tasted fresh, the nuts and strawberries and feta were delicious and plentiful, and the dressing was great on top of it all as well. The chicken situation was pretty disappointing especially for the price, but I wouldn't say it was enough to keep me from trying this place again. I'll just have to order something...
