On Wednesday June 9 at 6:15 am, I was in need of a simple, small black coffee. I spotted Summer Moon, delighted. The girl on duty registered a little confusion at my request---but slowly rang it up. Then in ultra slow motion, started to process my request. After 5 minutes with no coffee, I asked it it was self serve--could I just grab a coffee and go---she shrugged and said no. After a few more minutes, still with no coffee, I asked if it would be much longer as I was due at work. She handed me a cup with about 2 tablespoons of cold black liquid. Confused, I asked if this was a "small". She took the cup and filled it with water. I gratefully accepted, took a sip--but it was cold! (Silly me--I foolishly assumed a coffeehouse would know that coffee is served at 185 degrees). ONE other customer in the store, who had not even ordered. It's not like I caught this place at lunch rush. I asked for a refund. She sluggishly gave me my money. I thanked her, walked to my car and asked myself if in all my 60 plus years, who would believe that a business who purports to serve coffee would take 10 minutes to mess up what many would call the simplest order, ever? One. Small. Black. Coffee. No cream no sugar no band no fanfare...a neighboring convenience store got my business. 4 customers ahead of me and my transaction...
Read moreBeing from Austin and having moved to Fairhope in 2022, my family really enjoys being able to visit Summer Moon again. We were there when they opened their first store in Austin, and were more excited when they opened the Avery Ranch location closer to our home, and later their second Cedar Park location ended up being our go to coffee shop on the way to church every Wednesday and Sunday. We are glad to see that we can enjoy again in Daphne.
If you haven't tried wood fire roasted coffee, you really owe it to yourself to try it. It is unique and brings out the flavor of the coffee much better than gas or oven roasted. In my opinion, it's miles ahead of the double-crack burned dark roast that you get from the large corporate stores where the coffee tastes terrible and you have to cover it up with corn syrup. Wood fire roast coffee tastes pretty amazing to me.
My go to drink is a hot latte with just a touch of honey, so that it doesn't over power the flavor of the coffee. If you prefer a little more sweetness, go for a quarter moon hot or cold latte. If you are all about sweetness... go for the half moon. The full moon should come with a warning because while it is amazingly good, it packs...
Read moreLoved the coffee here!! We came here yesterday for the first time and it was great. My only wish is that we were explained how the menu worked since I am used to a traditional coffee shop menu. The young man who took our order was awesome and very kind. And our drinks came out pretty fast. Some of the best coffee I’ve had in the Daphne area. It’s now Sunday, we decided to come again after church because we enjoyed our coffee so much yesterday. This time we tried out the drive through. It took about 1.5 mins before we were even acknowledged over the speaker. Not a big deal at all, but the bad service continued when we came up to the window. I just felt like I was a burden with everything I said/was ordering when they were basic drinks straight from the menu. It was a blonde young girl with a blue sweatshirt, she didn’t have a name tag. She had no smile, no comment to us, except for a few bland instructions as to paying and order confirmation. Maybe she was having a bad day, and it was a one time thing. We will be back but will hope for better service than we had today! The drinks still tasted awesome, and that’s what...
