Bareburger — Restaurant in Darien

The food was just ok and for the price I would not go back. The popcorn they give you when you’re seated is a cute idea but it’s literally all over the floor of the restaurant.

Our server was nice but did not understand the menu items when I asked questions about it. They have chicken sandwiches that are labeled on the menu as burgers. I asked the waiter if it was a chicken burger or just grilled or fried chicken breast. He said “it’s a burger.” So, I am thinking it’s ground chicken in a patty and then grilled. I ordered and he suggested I get it on a spinach wrap bc it’s very good. I did and I should not have. The wrap was so small and it was one piece of grilled chicken with sauce. No lettuce or tomato or anything. The menu needs to specify that it’s not actually a burger but just grilled chicken breast. Or educate your waitstaff. He was nice enough to offer to take it off the bill but we declined that. I did not want it to affect his ticket or the gratuity. My husband did enjoy his meal, but the $8 up charge for “wagyu” beef on an already $22 basic burger is not worth it. If it was outstanding…yes definitely, but it was not.

Also, the app that they suggest you use to pay with charges an additional $2.95 to use and adds gratuity, so be aware when they suggest that because it was not made clear to us. Thankfully my husband noticed because I left a tip in cash and he double checked the receipt so I would have left double gratuity.

It seems like a casual family place where people take their kids, but it’s priced like an upscale burger and sandwich place…it’s just not the vibe.

This is genuinely the best bareburger location I've ever been too. The food is always fresh and with all my dietary restrictions, it's the one place i can order from and not feel sick after which is really refreshing. The interior is well designed and the staff is lovely as well.

I would have normally given five stars, and I feel a little silly for questioning this but have the chefs changed? I've noticed my popcorn chicken has been dry and under seasoned the last three orders and it's something I've ordered 20+ times. The under-seasoning I can handle with your incredible sauces but it used to have a juicy bite to it that is no longer and it's super disappointing. I would hate to have to go to another...

Update to response: This was not on Christmas Eve so please dont use that as an excuse. In the whole time we waited, no one came by to offer ANYTHING either an update or fries or anything to kids (despite us ordering a salad and guacamole appetizer which could have come out). We had to go up and ask for an extra tiny bag of popcorn for them. Stop prioritizing door dash orders/waiters (who you offered free drinks to, oddly enough, for their wait).

Horrible management and horrible service. Waited an hour for food that never came because they took too many take out orders. No offer to make right. Just said "sorry". Avoid this place until someone competent can...
