UPDATED:
I called this evening and spoke to the owner John. He was very kind and took the time to patiently talk with me, which I appreciated.
He explained a few things about the day, and that their phones went out that evening which explained not being able to get through.
I do know it was a busy day that day, and he has some new staff working, so I give them credit for that.
John's excellent Customer Service and politeness for the win. ๐โฎ๏ธ
Rarely, if ever, do I post ANYTHING negative, but this has been a very disappointing and crazy experience...
Since today is National Cheeseburger Day, I really had a taste for a burger...
I was going to go to Culver's, but I had never had Wayback Burger before, and thought I would give them a try... I ordered a "create your own" single cheeseburger, with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mayo along with a small fries (since they looked good with the skin on) and some mac n cheese bites, because they had a good review...
I called earlier asking where they were located and spoke to some dude who simply said "Darien" ๐ I asked where in Darien ? ๐ค lol and the guy says "next to Jet's Pizza..." (thankfully I know where jet's Pizza is lol) so I just moved on and asked a question about my order, thanked him and said goodbye.
Anyhow, I opened my bag, everything's all over, and see there are two barely wrapped sandwiches, one - dripping with hot sauce ! ๐ (I didn't order anything with hot sauce ๐๐ค and it was all over everything.)
so I opened the other sandwich, and I see it's a burger, slathered in mustard with diced onion all over, no mayo...
Moving on, I peek inside the bag, and on the bottom is seriously a handful of ice cold fries, no exaggeration.
I tried calling the store, and noshed on a mac and cheese bite thing, it was just okay, the BBQ sauce was good... the fries were so cold they were hard, so I didn't bother with those...
My receipt was correct for what I ordered, so I'm sure they mispacked my bag.
No one answered my call at the store... I called a few more times to ask if this was somebody else's order and to see about getting my sandwich correct, but never received any answer.
Very disappointed...
I ended up emailing their corporate after leaving the store a voicemail, because I can't get through to anyone at the store at all this evening...
The lack of customer service alone is enough to keep me from going back, but from the looks of the sandwiches I received, I wouldn't order there again... The burger looked like a glorified McDonald's, and the chicken sandwich (?) was seriously lacking in every aspect... Photos below for the good laugh... ๐
Such a weird experience... I definitely won't bother again in the future.
Maybe I'll hit Culver's tomorrow instead... (They're "in Darien," too...)...
ย ย ย Read moreEvery new place we try always has the possibility of being that great place only locals know about or the new kid on the block knocking it out of the park. Of course there is a chance of trying a new place and being disappointed, that has happened plenty of times. This morning I got a picture of a burger from Wayback Burgers on Facebook. It looked real good and Darien is about a 30 minute drive from my home. I picked up my brother and looked at it as an adventure. This is a burger place in a strip mall. No drive-thru but they do have outdoor seating. The menu features their 6 signature burgers you also have the option to build your own from a 7 proteins and a variety of cheeses, sauces, and toppings. We went with the A-1 Steakhouse burger and the Bourbon Bacon burger. The A-1 Steakhouse burger was mighty tasty. I thought the Bourbon Bacon burger was the real hit. The bourbon mustard brought a tangy flavor that was not overpowering the burger or the bacon. The bacon was thick and substantial not Burger King bacon. I got the tatter tots but my friend got cheese curds and they were crispy and savory. I asked the counter person if they had WiFi , he did not know but the owner shortly appeared and gave me the password and made sure I got connected. It appreciated him going above and beyond. The interior had modern industrial feel. They had Coca-Cola products but also four lemonades. This place is definitely worth a trip back to try more options on their menu. Finally I was pleasantly surprised it was under $20 a person for...
ย ย ย Read moreUsed to Love this place. Seems like staff or owners stopped caring enough or are overworked and sacrificing health & safety.
Two visits ago my pregnant wife almost slipped and fell due to a spill she couldnโt see. Worker apologized then didnโt bother to mark it or clean it up.
My visit today my pregnant wife got iced tea, sipped it and it tasted terrible. We both smelled it and it smelled like rotten eggs. I told a worker and she said she would dump it but couldnโt make another batch. I said that is fine I was more worried about others getting sick. We eat our entire meal, as weโre leaving I check and the ice tea is still full, I fill up another cup and it still smells rancid. Ask another employee to smell it and her face cringes. I tell her the other employee said theyโd throw it out. She tells me sorry weโve been backed up with orders. I say one problem leads to a lawsuit, one leads to a slightly annoyed customer.
Leadership needs to get it together, if the people youโre leaving in charge donโt know how to prioritize health & safety over order times then donโt leave them in charge, it wonโt be long till a lawsuit ends the business.
Might be a good idea to deep clean everything, clearly nobody knows how to use a mop or just uses one bucket of water for the entire store.
Consider me lost as a...
