Rumors of an incredible iced coffee-like-beverage compelled me to drive over an hour these last few weeks to Dartmouth, MA. This drink of legends is called the CHIPPI. While I didn’t hear about the CHIPPI until recently, let’s just say that I 100% understand the hype now. The drink on it’s own is 5/5 stars. What is the CHIPPI you might ask? It essentially functions as an iced coffee, except the feel and taste is closer to that of melted coffee ice cream. The texture of the drink is velvety smooth and sweet. I took one sip and knew I was hooked.
It’s that good that it’s that dangerous if you’re a coffee person. I didn’t even take a picture it was gone so quickly. I ordered the CHIPPI online but after tasting it decided that I needed a half gallon to go. (Oh yes, the drink has such a cult following that half gallons and gallons are available to go!) However, Mirasol’s is not a secret to the local community, so the line inside was quite long. The team is friendly and it moves quicker than you’d expect, but if you want to order food then you will have to wait in it. I grabbed a black bean and corn quesadilla along with my half gallon of CHIPPI for the road. (FYI, they have the regular CHIPPI and the CHIPPI light made with Splenda instead of sugar. I only tried the regular one, but I’ll give the light one a try next time to see how it compares.)
I wished I lived closer so I could go back more regularly. Ah well, next time I’ll grab a gallon of the CHIPPI to go instead of a half...
Read moreI don't normally post anything negative, but the severly poor customer experience I had with the owner prompted this review. I originally thought the food and atmosphere are worth the prices; However, I will never spend my hard earned money here again. I recently spent $35 on a gallon of the Chippie. I received 6 plastic cups and ice. I advised that due to a special event at work I needed 4 more cups for my team. I was denied and was told that people come in and try to resell, so they limit the quantities of cups. I just spent money and then was "accused" of reselling their product. I discussed with a manager and then ultimately the owner (2 weeks after original purchase date). The owner's response was that he "could mail me the cups". I hadnt even asked for any type of specific compensation, not even a free cup of coffee! I was appalled at the treatment/response and the lack of common sense...so losing a customer and further business from myself and friends as well as the potential business of others who read this or from my co-workers....didn't mean anything to the owner who apparently didn't care and has too much money to care. I need to accept some responsibility, I didn't immediately return what I just purchased at the time of the disagreement. I'm truly disappointed and plan on posting this wherever I can. I don't have the time but will...
Read moreFirst of all let me just say I've never had a bad experience at this café until this afternoon. I stopped here to grab a coffee before my evening shift at the hospital. I ordered, grabbed my iced latte and walked over to the counter to set it down to grab a straw. As I set it down it tipped over and next thing I know it was everywhere! I helped one of the girls clean up the mess and got back in line. I get to the cashier and ask if it can be remade and she says "I'm sorry you will need to pay again" I honestly just looked at her and everyone like did you not just see me clean it up off the counter. It isn't like I left the building dropped it, came back and request that it be made again. I didn't even have the coffee for 30 seconds. Its extremely disappointing when you invest your money weekly into a local business that will not replace a spilled drink inside the facility. I don't think they've ever heard of accidents happening. Not to mention their coffee isn't cheap. They get a lot of business from the Southcoast Employees and I will be sure to let my coworkers know not to drop their coffee inside because you will need to pay again. Honestly, Id rather drink trash coffee at Dunkin than come back to this greedy café again. I will NOT...
