I had posted a review a year ago giving The Cage 5 stars. We have been going quite regularly since discovering it last year. However, after tonight's experience I deleted my review. This wasn't the first time we've had terrible service. The servers are friendly but the service is absolutely the worst.
We walked in and waited awhile for anyone to come over to us. They weren't terribly busy. Finally Casey came over and we ordered, waited longer for our food than usual. We never saw our server, Casey after the food was put down. She never came to check on us or ask if we needed anything else. This seems to be the norm with the servers at The Cage. We finished our food and waited and waited and waited. Casey finally came over with the check. I let her know we were extremely unhappy with the service. I was very nice about it. I watched her smile disappear and she picked up the check and walked away without saying a word, which I felt was extremely rude. She could have said I'll be right back. I thought she was getting the manager. However, she came back a few minutes later with the check. She put the check down and walked away. She had removed one of the entrees. We waited for her to come back so we could pay but she never came back. We ended up leaving cash to cover the check and tip. Sorry, Cage. We like your food but won't put up with lousy service. We won't be back.
I'll also add.. A lot of times we ordered certain dishes/soups and the food never came out at the proper temperature. I was also charged an up charge for a baked potato and the next time I wasn't charged for it. When I questioned why I was charged the last time, I was told they do not charge an up charge for the potato substitution. Very...
Read moreNot sure how we ended up here, but it was a rough experience.
Hostess accidentally started seating the party after us at the table they’d asked us to wait for and it was awkward
Hostess took our drink orders but was really not very attentive; took them twice and then a new server came by to take our drink orders and was not particularly friendly about it.
Many of the food/drink items were unavailable despite being prominently featured as a special or on their drink menu
We had to ask twice for silverware and did not receive enough for the entire table (5 people)
Mozzarella sticks were under cooked, marinara sauce was “stale” - for lack of a better term, it tasted very odd. Nachos were okay. Black and Bleu burger came with bits of towel/cloth in the bleu cheese, sent it back. Fries unseasoned. Chicken Philly was rubbery and lukewarm.
Sink flies in the dining area
Overall, not a good experience. The only reason I’m giving 2 instead of 1 star is because the manager was holding this place together with bubblegum and duct tape and...
Read moreTwice in two weeks we came here for dinner. Everyone has a bad day now and then, so we decided to give them another chance.
The first visit, I ordered the prime rib — it was mostly fat. I ended up stopping at Wendy’s or Burger King afterward just to have something in my stomach because I couldn’t eat it. I figured maybe it was just me, so we came back again recently.
This time I ordered the fish and chips, a dish I’ve enjoyed here before, along with their steaks. Both used to be something worth talking about — but what happened? The fish was overcooked, bland, and the fries were hollow and flavorless. How can fries be hollow? They used to be real fries, not these fake ones.
I know times are tough and a lot of restaurants are struggling, but this was disappointing. I’m not trying to single them out; this seems to be a problem in many places lately. Maybe in a year or so I’ll forget and give it another shot — I just hope by then they’ve gone back to cooking fish the way...
