My family and I came in for dinner on a Wednesday evening around 6:30pm and the place was pretty busy which is always a good sign. There were only 2 tables open, so we were able to get seated right away. Otherwise, there is a tablet next to the door on your left as you walk in to put your name down for a table. I had been wanting to eat her for a while as I keep hearing about this place that offered a Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and generally great food. Well they didn’t disappoint! Their menu had lots of yummy offerings, so it was difficult to choose which items to order. We settled on the Pork Soup Dumplings, Pork Chive Dumplings, Salt and Pepper Spareribs, Dry Fried Chow Fun w/Beef and an order of Pan Fried Pork Buns (take home after dinner).
Soup Dumplings- juicy like they are suppose to be and had good flavor. The vinegar dipping sauce was not overly vinegary. Pork Chive Dumplings- a little different than the pork chive dumplings at dim sum restaurants, was good, but I prefer the dim sum kind. Dry Fry Chow Fun W/ Beef- excellent flavor, not too salty or bland. Some of the better chow fun I have had locally. Salt and Pepper Spareribs- we couldn’t believe how tender it was. The breading had a slight crunch and had great flavor that was not overpowering any particular spice. It was my wife and kid’s favorite dish.
Atmosphere: not a big restaurant, but had a fair amount of seating. It was nicely decorated inside. The best part is the glass and enclosed kitchen where you can watch the magic dumpling making happen. Food came out fast and our server was very attentive.
Parking: a large parking lot with no neighboring businesses at this time. There are at least 16 Tesla Superchargers in the parking lot as well, so if you have a Tesla or comparable EV, then you can charge while having dinner.
My wife wants to come back again when we need to come to Davis again in a...
Read moreWe are very disappointed by restaurant unfair and inconsistent waitlist policy. Our party of eight visited the restaurant on Sunday. Four of us arrived first and asked to be added to the waitlist, informing the staff that the rest would arrive in five minutes—which they did. However, we were told that the full party must be present before joining the waitlist.
While we waited, another group of four arrived and mentioned that two more would be coming shortly. The staff told them they could be seated if their party arrived within 3–5 minutes. Though their party comes significantly longer than ours, they were allowed to be seated before us. As a result, we had to wait much longer for a table, even though an adjacent table was available.
We respect restaurant policies but are deeply concerned about the inconsistent enforcement of their waitlist rules. The staff’s handling of the situation appeared unfair and dishonest, favoring certain customers while disadvantaging others. Such treatment is unacceptable, and we will not be returning.
EDIT: the restaurant owner claims that we may have miscommunication, but they never answer WHY THE PARTY “AHEAD US” CAN JOIN THE WAITLIST AND BE SEATED EVEN THEY ARE PARTIAL, while we can join waitlist only when all of our groups arrive. If we can join waitlist with partial people, I believe we will be ahead of the two groups. This is by no means a...

Better service.
Food is not bad and is the first of these styles in town vs having to go to old sac or elk grove.
Service is pretty unorganizer, came in to see three servers free and one at the front door taking care of a to go order. The others would not bring us to any of the ten open table and insist that we wait for the front to be done with the take out order (so we stood there for like 7min waiting for that with kids).
With that many servers, you can just kindly bring us to a table to sit and say please wait for your server for order. And once we sat, server came right away....maybe some procedures need to be updated...
And they also served us the wrong order, gave us the one from the table next to us...when it finally came, they forgot the sauces for the siu long bao x.x
On top of that, one of the kids bowl given was dirty, asked for another, told to wait, came back a few minutes later asking if i needed a plate...there were only five tables at that time, not the busiest time yet.
Things got more organized after another server that seems to be more of a senior showed up for work.
*This is my second visit to this place, doesnt seem like the boss is around, but at least the AC is...
