Side Piece Soul Cafe Ltd — Restaurant in Dayton

This was our first time. This place is hard to find because nothing on the outside says this name. On this day we were at least the fifth party to have to ask if this was the place just in the 40 minutes we were there. Everything on the outside said kitchen something, but not Side Piece, just this random looking door. Once you find it though, the staff was pleasant to deal with. The food was very good. We got the bowl and jerk chicken. Both were excellent. The jerk had just the right heat and flavor and the bowl had everything but the kitchen sink. We both got more than we could finish in one sitting, both dishes reheated well, and while the price was a bit more than you might expect the amount and quality of the dishes justified it.

The place itself is small inside with limited seating for waiting. After talking with other patrons we found they have an online presence that can limit your wait time. Being our first time we paid with cash, I call it tip kryptonite, because so many places are quick to flip that screen at you, and this is no exception. I heard about this place all over social media and I saw that they were 10 minutes away so I decided to go give it a try. ALL last week I called to place an order, she said “ we’re not going to open until this time due to unforeseen circumstances “ I’m like okay I’ll try tomorrow nobody answers and their door dash hours are different from google hours… So I gave them some grace and tried them Friday when they finally opened at the time it said they were supposed to open. I called up here and asked if I could place an order, she tells me “ we’re not taking phone orders or door dash orders until 2 “ and told me to come to place an order which is no problem. Why did I come up there to place an order just for someone to ask me did I have a door dash order when the person on the phone just told me they weren’t taking those kinds of orders at the moment… I told her I was there to place an order, after they helped the person in front of me I’m waiting to be serviced, i see ppl keke and cackling, sweeping water while I waiting. So I just left cause I wasn’t about to keep sitting there when they saw me. Terrible hours, and terrible...

I am new to the city of Dayton and, I inquired about where I could find some good food, I am a pescatarian and I am very picky, I was told about your place and how it came to be, may I just say my children and I are so glad that you found out this unfortunate but extremely fortunate information because you have some great food.My daughter says "she touched 3 different dimensions eating your Seductive Crispy Chicks and waffles", My Son says" The Risqué Chicken Tender Crisp meal reminding him of a restaurant he went to as a child in Georgia, and your side pieces were amazingly good", I really enjoyed and had to pull myself away from your Ocean temptation double fish sandwich dinner before I remember why I left my ex and refused to be his "Side Chick" giggles, We give you all Stars,you have the best food we have had since being here,(other than my food) but as far as carry-out dining, Excellence is the word.
