The Loft Theatre — Attraction in Dayton

Update: Saw "Indigo" on 6/10/2023-- another wonderful performance by the Human Race Theatre Co., at the Loft Theatre. Outstanding, moving performance! Also, the Human Race Theatre Company's 2023-2024 Season looks to be another round of phenomenal performances---we've already signed up for season tickets.

Cannot overemphasize how unique and special this place is--an intimate setting where one can see world-class LIVE performances by exceptional actors/actresses--at a very economical price. We've seen theatre productions all over the region, and this venue is our favorite. Moreover, they present productions that will get you to think, and inspire your humanity (in a good way). Truly spectacular! And one cannot beat the prices, even for front-row seats (though a small venue, EVERY seat is wonderful). Worth every penny! AND, they have "Sawbuck Sundays", where one can see the 1400 (2:00PM) performance for $10!!! Check them out online for more info!

Many of their plays are well-acted. However, they thrive on performing plays with shock value. Unless it’s a family show, most of their plays have foul language, adult themes, family-relationship drama, and sometimes even nudity. Many have a social agenda as well. The theater makes great use of a small stage, but there are so many better plays that could be performed without having shock value or an obvious social statement. They aren’t particularly nice to their volunteers, either. The management team acts more like the Dayton Live Gestapo, watching volunteers like hawks and making them ask permission for everything. Does all this make it sound like the managers are pathetic?...

The Loft theater is one of the true hidden gems in the Gem City of Dayton Ohio. The Theater seating is arranged in a half round arrangement, that is, 180 degrees of seating around the theater stage as Shakespeare intended plays to be seen. Theater goers are first welcomed to the theater buy a host of wonderful volunteers. The staging and backdrops for every performance that I have seen in my almost 20 years of attending the Loft theater is always first rate as are the performances and Musical accompaniments. Gladly, I will take a performance at the Loft theater any night over a theater performance in any other venue in the greater...
