My husband and I just celebrated 25 years of marriage and he wanted to get me an anniversary band. We found a beautiful ring at Kay and I quickly decided it was the one. We swiped our card and the charge immediately hit our account. However, we were told by the sales woman and her manager that the transaction did not go through. After trying to reach my bank to verify it hadn't gone through and sitting on hold for 10 minutes, we are assured by the manager, Dawn, that the charge did not go through, but if it had, they would immediately refund us so we agree to run our card again. That was out first mistake.
Now, a week later, we check our account and discover we were, indeed, charged twice for the ring. I immediately called Dawn and told her we were in fact charged twice and she tried to again to tell me it would drop off, that it wasn't charged. I explained that, yes, the charge had gone through, my account shows two separate charges on the same day just a few minutes apart and the money for both sales have been deducted from our account. She then proceeds to ask if I've called my bank to confirm that the charges have gone through. I explain that I can clearly see on my app the money has been deducted but she tells me she needs to speak with my bank. Okay, fine. I hang up with her and call my bank. Of course they confirm both charges went through and we were charged double for one purchase. While speaking to my bank, Dawn calls me back to tell me she has requested an investigation and it will take 5-7 business days to do the investigation. Not to get a refund, no just for them to investigate. I explain that I'm on with my bank and I merge the two calls. My bank explains that they did charge us twice and I explain I'm not waiting a week or longer for them to investigate and want an immediate refund as we were promised the night of our sale. Of course Dawn tells us it's out of her hands and there's nothing more she can do but wait until their investigation is concluded. So, I immediately ask my bank, based on our conversation, and Dawn admitting our card was ran twice for one purchase, if there is anything I can do through them to get a refund and I was told that, yes, I can file a dispute. I did so immediately. Needless to say, this has left a bad taste and immediately after hanging up with the bank, we returned the ring. They tried to get us to keep the ring or purchase something else. As if, after refusing to refund thousands of dollars back to us, I ever would. This whole thing was handled so poorly and they have yet to refund our money. If the issue isn't resolved within the next week, we will contact an attorney.
All this to say, beware of buying anything from Kay Jewelers and this store...
Read moreI just left Kay's Jewelry in the Volusia Mall, International Speedway. I tried to get a clasp on my 14kt gold bracelet replaced and a post stem added to one of my diamond earrings. One woman who was a new trainee started helping me, and then in comes a older woman, brown and grey hair very racist, rude, and obviously intimidated by a Black woman. Started speaking to the trainee as if I wasn't present. When I was quoted a repair price I asked why and I told the trainer I want a estimate and if the price is still more than I wanted to spend I'll try somewhere else. The trainee agreed, but the older "Karen" started being very rude and tried her best to speak down to me. I told her to stop addressing me as if I'm not an adult or better yet not a human. She had the audacity to ask me if I knew what a estimate was....I'm a business owner since 1996 a Teacher since 2008 and been off the plantation since 1865. I told her she should be happy she's safe behind the counter because she was doing alot. She proceeded to threaten a call from the police, I told her she should call the police and I requested to speak with a manger. The manager was very nice, blonde hair young woman who still wanted me to complete my estimate. I told her I would rather speak with her another time since I was obviously upset. Even as I was leaving the Karen still had the audacity to taunt me. I have so much to lose if I would've put my hands on her. I thank God for his protection. KAY jewelers should not have someone that mean, hard to look at in the face and racist working with customers. She definitely has done this before. I have gone to Kay jewelers for repairs a few times and wanted to order my cremation pendants from them to hold some of my mother's ashes but today! Will definitely will be...
Read moreCame in on Friday April 30th to look at wedding bands. The lady who helped us was very rude. She asked where I got my engagement ring from, I said it was not purchased at Kay that is was from a private sale. From that point she referred to it as fashion jewelry and kept insisting that in order to find a wrap that would fit around my engagement ring I would have to purchase an entirely new bridal set from Kay. Thankfully we didn't listen to this horrible attempt at a sales pitch and went to the Kay at the Tanger outlet. They had MULTIPLE wraps that fit around my engagement ring perfectly! I told them about the terrible experience I had at the Volusia Mall location and they apologized profusely for a different locations actions. I asked if they would mind testing it and the gentleman said you can clearly tell its real just by looking at it, he tested it and it's real, NOT fashion jewelry! Don't waste your time at this location!!!! Go to the Kay at Tanger, everyone at that store is so kind...
