Tijuana Flats — Restaurant in Daytona Beach

August 19th, 2021 @ ~ 1800 I don't normally do this and I never have had a bad experience at TF the few times ive been, but today was like none other. Thing after thing went wrong.

I asked for light ice in my drink and got extra extra ice, barely got any drink. The server in purple was nice enough to get me another with much more drink but got me the incorrect drink after all. I was already in my car by the time I realized so I didn't bother going back in.

There was issues with my order. I asked for only sour cream, cheese and pico for my quesadilla. The server in purple (my cashier) confirmed it reading off my order before I paid. It came out with onion, alot of it. I dealt with it.

I originally asked for the order to be "for here" but as I waiting a large, obnoxious group of hs or college kids came in so I decided to change it to "for go". I spoke to a server in a red shirt and she yelled at the "boys" in the kitchen that my order was changing to go. They acknowledged. It came out "for here". The nice server in purple got me a to go box.

The only reason this isnt a 1 star is because the server in purple was very helpful and respectful when fixing the things that went wrong. (Forgot to ask her name)

Hoping for better if I try TF again...

We all got the two tacos, but there seemed to be something missing from all of our tacos. I didn't get jalapeños and the two people with me didn't get sour cream. One person said their meat wasn't good, and that the chips that came with their meal tasted stale. I didn't really try them, so I can't say whether this was true for all of the chips. As for my tacos, I thought they tasted alright.

To be fair, it was really busy, as it was the college move in day, so everybody was probably trying to grab something to eat at the same time. I'd definitely be glad to try this place again to see if the food quality improves.

As for the hot sauce bar, it was really fun to try all of the different sauces! They ranged from mild to really spicy.

Overall, this was a really fun place to go to. I especially liked the decorations on the wall, such as all of the military tributes and letters, and the occasional artwork on the ceiling. However, the quality and taste of the food we received brought this rating down. I am hopeful that this restaurant has good food normally, and that the sudden crowd and quality decrease had to do with the...

The food was pretty decent, however, the staff was uninterested. The original hostess took my order four times, each time adding a correction. The order was; Ultimate chicken nachos with no jalapeños, guac, or tomatoes and add refried beans with two medium drinks. Once seated and the food was brought the hostess ignored my wife's existence. A moment later she brought an extra plate for my wife and just tossed it onto the table. Finally, during the duration of my meal I was given a free show of the manager at the booth in front of me. The whole time, about fifteen minutes, he complained about local law enforcement. He made comments such as "they need should have a constant third party checking everything they do" and how If they wanted 5% more added to their retirement they should have gotten a better job. "It's not [his] fault they have to do 20 years and [he] gets to retire in 12." This was just a few of the ridiculous statements he made. Definitely not worth anyone's business.
