This place plummeted from a five-star experience to a negative ten faster than I could blink. The first time I came in, the food was great, and the service was even better. However, the second time I came in, the service was horrible, and the food was somehow even worse. I did not see this coming at all. I’m disappointed because I thought my family had finally found a good spot to enjoy a meal together.
We were pointed to a table and not even acknowledged until 15 minutes later. I’m pretty sure they just completely forgot about us and left us to dust. It all started with simple requests not being met. Our picky kid doesn’t like drumsticks, but they would not make an exception to grant him wings with only flats. Then the kid ordered beef shawarma reluctantly, only to be disappointed further. They burned the bread to crisps, and when we politely asked them to remake it, they refused, saying that’s how they do it. I highly doubt something with a burnt aftertaste is how it’s supposed to be. The kid came in very hungry and left even more hungry because nothing we asked for him was done correctly.
I get that the wings request might be shot down, but something burnt beyond edible can’t even be remade? What do you expect the kid to eat? On top of that, they never seem to remember that we don’t want pickles on our plates, no matter how much we remind them. Everyone’s meals are never brought out on time; everything comes out one at a time and dry, not even hot. Both the meat and chicken shawarmas as fluffed up with disgusting inedible fat which is not slick at all.
The most irritating and frustrating part of this whole experience was the ending when we were packing up leftovers. The staff cleaning the table kept hovering over us as we were still sitting. What a way to kick someone out. The guy didn’t understand what personal space is. He just hovered over and around us instead of letting us put our food away in peace. He could have waited two minutes for us to wrap up eating before he started wiping under our plates and taking our food. To make matters worse, just as we were about to pack up our fattoush, he took the plate as if we said it was trash or something.
Worst food, worst service, and worst hospitality. Don’t eat here unless you want burnt food, rude servers, and cleaners who invade your personal space and try to kick you out. Thank you for disproving my first experience with your...
Read moreI tried Basha Grill for the first time and I was really impressed by the amazing customer service compared to other restaurants in the area. We ordered mixed Shawarma Markuk, Mixed grill plate with hummus and Fatush. The Shawarma Markuk was really good and the only thing I did not like about it was that they put regular pickles instead of turnips in the beef Shawarma markuk. I'm not a fan of pickles in my Shawarma sandwich. Next time I will ask them not to put it. The Chicken Shawarma was a bit on the dry side. As for the mixed grill plate, the Kafta was the highlight of the dinner. Great flavour, juicy and beyond delicious. I wasn't a big fan of the beef Tikka or what you might call "lahm meshwi" few pieces had big chunks of fat in them and it was well done. The tawook was bland and over cooked. The hummus and fatush were delicious but their garlic sauce was over powering. The rice had corn in it "not sure why?". And finally their French fries are nothing special and they taste like frozen fries. I will give it another try for different menu items the next time I go there.
Updated on August 28, 2022 We have ordered takeout 2 more times from this place and the 2 times they got the order wrong and there were items missing from the order. They need to learn how to listen to customers when they make their orders and to check the orders before it leaves the restaurant to make sure nothing is missing. The first time we ordered beef shawarma plate. They did not send tahini sauce with it. When we called them they said come pick it up ( like I was gonna drive 20 minutes again) and they did not show any remorse. Yesterday I ordered a burger with lettuce and onions only and colslaw on the side and for the bun to be well toasted. What I got was a burger with lettuce, onions, tomatoes and pickles, no coleslaw and the bun was barely toasted. By the time the burger got home it was soagy. They need to get trained on how to listen when someone os making an order....
Read moreI am going to start off by saying this, if you've been eating Middle Eastern food outside of the Dearborn/Dearborn Heights area, you're doing it wrong.
You can start off doing it right, by visiting this place. This goes back to how I always say some of the best food comes from little places in strip malls, and this place is no different. Embedded in a pretty new set of several stores on Ford Rd lives a little Middle Eastern spot that you probably haven't heard of until now. This establishment is relatively new, and they're doing everything they need to do to prove that they are in for the long haul to set themselves apart from other establishments that have similar offerings. One of the best things about the location is that, well since it's in a strip mall, there is always ample parking. The first thing you will probably notice is the size—this place is very small and likely to fill up very quickly if you are dining in during lunch or dinner. The second thing you will notice is how friendly the staff is. Everyone that I interacted with here was great. This place also features an open style kitchen set up, so you are able to see first hand all of your food being prepared and cooked (not really a big deal, I just think it's a neat feature).
Fast forward to the reason you're probably reading this to begin with, the food. The food here is not only delicious, but plentiful as well. Even better, it's super affordable. This is the place they talk about when they talk about you getting the best "bang for your buck". This is going to be my go to spot for Middle Eastern food from now on.
I encourage you to stop in and see for yourself. You can...
