Serrano's Mexican — Restaurant in Decatur

My husband lovesssss Mexican and we ate at a few restaurants in this area and disliked them. This place made me want to go on our favorite Mexican restaurant page and tell them they have a strong competitor in North Alabama.😂They should also be very afraid and thankful they are one to two hundred miles apart. Great food and to say otherwise would just be me being picky. Please give them a try. It has an authentic taste that feels like it was passed down through the generations. Awesome job.

Round 2: 12/17/23 UPDATE I have always wanted to try the Quesabirria combo and low and behold it was great. This place just never seems to disappoint me in the taste department. We went back to our hotel room but after tasting those, I went back for seconds. They were fresh, not too heavy, and pack with layers of flavor and textures.

I recommend anyone in Decatur for travel to give this small food truck a chance. Don’t let the size fool you here folks. I don’t know how many more months we will be here but this will be my regular spot for tacos.

Manager: I would take away from the cashier who was a bit rude because I had no idea if toppings came with the chicken and rice (which was also good) and she assumed I was supposed to know that. However, the previous sentence is not something I would nitpick at but it would be alarming if it happened regularly. I’m just going to say it was a long day for her and she wasn’t able to perform according to your standards. Just know that moment would have been a great opportunity...

This is my second review. Love their food. My first was last year. Excellent! I had to write this because I called and couldn't speak with the owner or mgr.. wouldn't take a message either. So..here it is. I've been away, wanted food only from here..last week I ordered the birria ramon, the best....it was tasteless. I didn't call. I had another order, call in order on Friday 3/28/25. I ordered veggie chimichanga, rice&beans. Restaurant was disorganized, I had to wait longer than 15min, others paying, waiting on food, and I couldn't get my call in paid order? My beans were cold, my rice was luk warm, and my chimichanga was a soft burrito. Not only did I not order a burrito, but it makes no sense. I've been going here since they were in the trailer, which is why I called first. This is totally unacceptable. And there needs to be some type of system for call in, online and walk-in orders. I am not happy paying this money for NOT what I received. Please, please fix it because I love your food, but 2 incidents less than a week apart is too much.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Serrano’s Mexican restaurant, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious—each dish bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors. I had the opportunity to try several items from the menu, and every bite was more impressive than the last. The quality and creativity of the dishes were truly top-notch. The salsa, which was served as a starter, had me hooked from the moment I sampled it. It was fresh, tangy, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. It set the tone for the rest of the meal and was an absolutely perfect start to the experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home from the moment I walked in. Their warm hospitality only added to the overall wonderful experience. I will definitely be returning again and again to enjoy the amazing food and great service....
