I suffer from several rare conditions lupus, MS, ANA, protein s deficiency ,EDS, Pots , MCAS a history of pulmonary embolisms and DVTs And one being c1q1 this disease is extremely rare and reacts to my other immune diseases and autoimmune diseases. Last night I had a heart rate into the 130s for several hours with chest pain, shoulder pain, dizziness and nausea we called 911 who verified those symptoms, one of the paramedics on scene decided my change in breathing was a panic attack, I do not suffer from panic attacks inducing rapid breathing, what I kept saying was C1Q1 airway , he said I have to google that. One, he had already decided it was a panic attack which he then told the attending dr, who treated me as such in the entire stay I saw the dr twice once to upon arrival and second departure. They gave me an epi shot thinking that treats c1q1 which in fact does not It requires a profolactic infusion followed by plasma. Instead I was treated for hyperventilating. I am still suffering, my o2 varies but my heart rate is staying at 120 beats per minute . Doctors and paramedics who do not understand the domino effects of auto immune conditions and rare diseases should not be so quick to make a snap judgment. I was treated like I was a crazy person all but one kind nurse , the others proceed to yell at me telling me to stop shacking, all which are reactions to the body not properly receiving air. My airway was collapsing and instead I am being yelled at. After hours of nothing they finally ran an exray .. I assume to be for a pe , having had Pe in past those Ct scans should last an hour or more this was five minutes not enough time to do a through scan.At no time did they speak to my husband who was fully prepared to give them a through list and explanation of my diseases! And then just like that sent me on my way ( oh forgot to mention they gave me versus to knock me out , which it did, and then I was headed home with a no work for two days due to hyperventilation. Now I know good and well no one hyperventilates and then is home for two days, it even said hyperventilation only last 20-30 min. Please explain 10 hours of symptoms several hours of restricted breathing . On a side note my chest still hurts, I am dizzy , my heart rate 120’s. But over my dead body would I go to this hospital again. If as a medical professional you do not understand a disease you find someone who does . I now have two appointments today and after speaking with my drs will likely be hospitalized! I want to further note situations like this keep people with rare diseases from seeking medical attention, but instead makes them more susceptible to die at home. If you don’t understand rare conditions seek out someone who does! This trip was extremely expensive for us and not something I would do for a panic attack! Highly disappointed in the medical staff that cared for me last night. Huge shout out to the ambulance driver who seemed to listen , and the fire department who equally listened before my airway began swelling shut! I hope that the hospital will give a training class on rare diseases, I will happily come explain signs and symptoms and methods of care for...
Read moreI felt stupid being there because to me it was an emergency but doctor made him go I guess pneumonia but everybody made me feel like I wasn't a complete full. Everybody was very nice. They gave me fluids and medicine that finally broke this loose so I'm breathing a lot better today what time so thankful for so maybe I can get back to work to the hospital tomorrow or Thursday I like going to Parkway because I say as long as hectic and you get more one-on-one pay attention kind of thing plus it's a wait times and lower. I kept apologize and for being there because I felt like it wasn't an emergency to be there but I'm thankful I did because with the steroids and the fluid and the antibiotic I am feeling somewhat good well now I'm feeling better today that's since I felt since last Thursday which is 5 days ago. So thank you very much to my nerves she was great a nurse practitioner she was sleep looked a little nervous or maybe that's her personality but she was still fine. Thank you to all the ER staff that I interacted with including the admission Clerk when I walked in the door they took care of me immediately and got me back to triage and then back to a room which I didn't have to wait at all. Right down to the Radiology staff who were just he was as nice as he could be I'm not sure what his name is I wished I would know what everybody's name was but I'm sure you can look on the records. So if I had to recommend Parkway ER I would recommend them every single time it's my home away from home. I spent 10 years there and they were always good to me and my family that's why I keep going back and taking my family back even though there's no rooms over there which I think it's a mistake but they didn't ask me. Parkway was always a good Hospital always made money always was a family atmosphere I wish it was still put together I miss everybody but anyway thank you everybody for being nice as always and making me feel not...
Read moreMade this visit after 3 days bad flu like symptoms. Just wonderful to go to my local ED only to be reduced to tears and made to feel like such a bother. Honestly there’s just too many things to list. Very rude tech, who needs to go to nursing school, or either stop pretending to be a nurse. A somewhat sufficient Doctor, “Dr Patrick”, gave me what I needed, but not without chastising me, the sick patient, for speaking to the tech the way I did. Which I would not have had to do if they were not clearly stating absolutely uneducated medical knowledge. It’s not ok to leave the IV unflushed for “hours”, as they said, after a medication has completed, and expect it to keep working. Duh. Also funny, the charge nurse backed up the tech on the ridiculous statement. Of course if it would have been put on a pump, it would have beeped when done. Mmmmm. Also, I was left alone, without access to the call light, no follow up check after IV meds completed. I couldn’t find my Bp cuff to put it back on because I was just feeling to sick to crawl around on the floor to look for it. So I know the readings that are now on my chart are just made up. Obviously the doctor didn’t listen to me either because he charted a few made up items as well. Such is the path of our healthcare. Not my first time with this. Also for many of whom I love. We have all let ourselves become victims to this monopolistic industry. Held captive by Insurance giants and the “business” of healthcare. Idk about anyone else, but I’m tired of it. And I’m done being...
