I suffer from several rare conditions lupus, MS, ANA, protein s deficiency ,EDS, Pots , MCAS a history of pulmonary embolisms and DVTs And one being c1q1 this disease is extremely rare and reacts to my other immune diseases and autoimmune diseases. Last night I had a heart rate into the 130s for several hours with chest pain, shoulder pain, dizziness and nausea we called 911 who verified those symptoms, one of the paramedics on scene decided my change in breathing was a panic attack, I do not suffer from panic attacks inducing rapid breathing, what I kept saying was C1Q1 airway , he said I have to google that. One, he had already decided it was a panic attack which he then told the attending dr, who treated me as such in the entire stay I saw the dr twice once to upon arrival and second departure. They gave me an epi shot thinking that treats c1q1 which in fact does not It requires a profolactic infusion followed by plasma. Instead I was treated for hyperventilating. I am still suffering, my o2 varies but my heart rate is staying at 120 beats per minute . Doctors and paramedics who do not understand the domino effects of auto immune conditions and rare diseases should not be so quick to make a snap judgment. I was treated like I was a crazy person all but one kind nurse , the others proceed to yell at me telling me to stop shacking, all which are reactions to the body not properly receiving air. My airway was collapsing and instead I am being yelled at. After hours of nothing they finally ran an exray .. I assume to be for a pe , having had Pe in past those Ct scans should last an hour or more this was five minutes not enough time to do a through scan.At no time did they speak to my husband who was fully prepared to give them a through list and explanation of my diseases! And then just like that sent me on my way ( oh forgot to mention they gave me versus to knock me out , which it did, and then I was headed home with a no work for two days due to hyperventilation. Now I know good and well no one hyperventilates and then is home for two days, it even said hyperventilation only last 20-30 min. Please explain 10 hours of symptoms several hours of restricted breathing . On a side note my chest still hurts, I am dizzy , my heart rate 120’s. But over my dead body would I go to this hospital again. If as a medical professional you do not understand a disease you find someone who does . I now have two appointments today and after speaking with my drs will likely be hospitalized! I want to further note situations like this keep people with rare diseases from seeking medical attention, but instead makes them more susceptible to die at home. If you don’t understand rare conditions seek out someone who does! This trip was extremely expensive for us and not something I would do for a panic attack! Highly disappointed in the medical staff that cared for me last night. Huge shout out to the ambulance driver who seemed to listen , and the fire department who equally listened before my airway began swelling shut! I hope that the hospital will give a training class on rare diseases, I will happily come explain signs and symptoms and methods of care for...
Read moreI am in health care. I know all about being busy. I sprained my entire foot, or that is what I was told. I never got to see the x-rays. RED FLAG...!!! Doctor told me, verbatim , " we will give you something for pain, a boot for your foot, and crutches." I had to beg for something for pain. I had to beg for crutches, and the nurse was very rude and non compassionate at all. My foot is bruised and swollen all over.. I never got the boot and was give Tylenol...WHAT!!! I went to the hospital bc elevating, wrapping, ice and Tylenol was what I did at home. Why would anyone waist of time and go through all that nonsense, to be told and given the same thing I was doing at home. And had to sit there elevating my foot by actually holding it. Was never given a pillow to help with elevation. NOTHING!!! It is confusing and just unreasonable for the whole entire stress of going to er, waiting and waiting. Hurting beyond words. I have a leasing on my liver that was just detected. And Tylenol is what my real Dr told me I definaltly did not need to take. The doctor was arrogant no sympathy at all. And the nurse could have helped get my point across and try and talk to him. But no.. it actually made me feel shamed.. I am no drug seeker. But when I hurt, I'm not playing. And all I want is not not be in throbbing continual excruceiating pain.. idk know what's the problem with that. Seems pretty reasonable to me. I understand the ones that only want pills and all that, but EVERYONE is put under the same umbrella. That is just wrong. And when you take the time to go to the hospital, when your doing more for yourself at home, and nothing works and you end up with less and unprofessional help at the hospital? This is just wrong, in every way possible. I am extremely unbelievably disappointed and makes my trust in the entire health care system, something no one can really depend on when it is there so the ones that are hurt can trust and believe in, that they will completely help and depend on. Things have changed for the worse, and makes no one trust they will get the care we as human beings deserve and pay for. Maybe this review will help, I doubt it bc the way I feel parkway feels about a human being, and the way I was completely uncared for today is double noted and received.. IT IS JUST A SHAME!!!!!!! ...
Read moreAbsolutely, the worst staff an emergency department can ever have. I went in for a very bad sore throat an couldnt talk or swallow. I went through triage an i had to ask what was my blood pressure an my temp. Once taken to a room i waited 45 minutes before anyone an i mean anyone to come into my room. Very bad bedside manners. Now, when you come in with a sore throat an cant swallow with a low grade temp test should have been drawn. But Dr. Simmons came in with the worst attitude an ask why was i there, looked in my mouth an said oh well you have laryngitis.... now, they swabbed my throat.... an never mentioned what my results were. Then asked if i was allergic to antibiotics. About 40 mins after a nurse came in with discharge papers an a cup of liquid... now remind you i said i couldnt swallow anything an my throat was on fire. I told the nurse that i cant swallow anything, she was very rude an snotty an said ill go see if he will give you an antibiotic shot... well that would make more since, i mean for gods sake my throat is red an swollen. I had to wait another 35 mins before she came in an said very rudely he aint going to give you a shot. Soooooo, why would you treat patients like that. This isnt the first time he has treated me or any body else like this but im not about to hush about it this time. He is very rude, unprofessional, an it shows on his face that he dosent like his job an that he is only there for the money. He could have given me an antibiotic shot i wasnt asking for any pain meds just give me a shot to open up my throat. But he treated me very rudely. I dont understand why still have him there or anywhere. Everyone i talk to always say that he has a i dont like people attitude. Parkway is a total joke. If you want rude unprofessional staff that dosent take their job seriously then be my guess. As of now, because he didnt care enough to treat me i have an infection in my chest an my throat is worst. Ill drive to huntsville cause he be at decatur general as well. He will let you get worst before he puts his degree to...
