Big Bear Cafe & Espresso Bar — Restaurant in Dedham

It's a fantastic cafe and nice and friendly service, but on the day I was there, they suffered the same problem that seems ever increasing in cafe's. There was a gentleman in the corner who was running his office out of the cafe, (in and of itself not a problem for me) , but who was continuously making very loud phone calls - really projecting his voice almost as if he wanted everyone in the cafe to hear what he was doing - he was wearing large headphones which perhaps exacerbated the problem, and when the headphones ran out of power, started talking to people on his amplified loudspeakers. I noticed he had only bought on small coffee - I'm so sorry for such a nice cafe that this took place. Cafe's I think need to find a way to nip this type of thing in the bud, and if the person never returns as a customer, sobeit. I don't know but I got the sense he's a daily fixture there, and I would not go back for fear he, or someone like him, would be similarly tolerated by...

Don't get me wrong, the food is great, however there could be some improvements.

Their Acai bowls sound incredibly delicious, however, when I received my it was complete frozen, and they have you a small container of almond butter. Yet give you fresh fruits on top? So they give this to you with the expectation that you should be able to eat it right away yet the acai is frozen solid.. doesn't make much sense to me. So you have to then wait for however how long it takes for it to thaw to enjoy your food. Also, why have outdoor seating but not offer umbrellas? My boyfriend and I were standing inside waiting for our food and there are old men in there who STARE at you the entire time. I understand you have the right to sit down and enjoy your food but there's a line between enjoying your food and just being a creepy old man with only a coffee staring at people. Perhaps they may see this and think about offering outdoor seating that's more accessible...

Came in last week with my girlfriend. We got 2 sandwiches and 2 beverages. My iced chai tea latte with ginger was good, but had slightly too much milk. My girlfriend got the honey bee and it was extremely sweet. The sandwiches are OK, we both had the bacon egg and cheese which seemed to be missing the cheese (or its baked into the egg and you cant taste it) and had mixed greens on it which wasnt in the item description. The best part of the sandwich was the bacon which is thick cut and sticky & maple flavored. Two stars for the bacon and an OK chai tea. If it was me who had gotten the honey bee, it would be 1 star as it was just way too sweet. Also, the woman at the register seemed to be new and learning and the other woman (who seemed to possibly be the owner) working wasnt being very patient or kind with her when explaining how to do things.
