Long John Silver's — Restaurant in Del City

Okay, folks, hear me out.. Five stars 🌟 for a modern-day LJS?? For this location at lunch today, that's exactly what they delivered.. Let me explain..

I haven't visited an LJS in over 20 years, maybe even longer.. At some point in my past, I decided I didn't need this kind of fare in my life, and frankly, there weren't very many decent LJS locations out there..

So, today, one of my coworkers said he wanted to visit LJS for lunch, and we had two to choose from.. We opted for this location because it was recently rebuilt and held a higher Google rating..

We arrived at the very beginning of the lunch service, and I attribute our great experience, in part, to arriving early in the day..

I ordered the fish and shrimp platter with cole slaw and waffle fries for my sides.. The meal was nicely presented. Each of the items was hot, fresh, and to my delight, rather tasty..

The fish and shrimp were set atop an ample serving of LJS's famous crispy batter pieces.. If I were a betting man, I'd say that they were prepared exactly as LJS directs them to be.. Perfectly crisp and without excess oil.. The end result was a flavorful pair of fish fillets and a half dozen lightly battered and crispy shrimp..

The waffle fries and cole slaw were perfectly portioned and accompanied the meal quite well.. The cole slaw was cold and crisp and had a great flavor, and the waffle fries were fried just right and lightly salted..

The atmosphere of the restaurant was clean, bright, and inviting.. The fellow working the counter was pleasant and helpful, as well..

All in all, this LJS did a great job in delivering exactly what I imagine is a textbook meal for the chain..

We've already decided that this LJS may just find itself in our normal lunch rotation on a monthly basis.. We shall see.. I'd definitely return for this same meal in...

I gave the new store a second try. On my first visit the cod was very good. But I ordered extra hush puppies and they ran out of vinegar so I couldn't eat any. HOW in a newly opened location do you not have vinegar and tartar sauce? On this, my second visit, they ran out of hush puppies. Hush puppies with vinegar was my favorite thing to eat there as a kid and I just wanted to taste that memory again. But with both of these gaffes and the uninterested attitude of the staff, it is obvious there is a problem in management. They cannot place inventory orders correctly or develop a quality staff. It won't be long until the store is as toxic as the one they tore down and the food and customers will suffer. Before the old store closed the food was disgusting because it was cooked in filth by an uncaring staff. Now, New store, same disappointing experiences....

Food was great! Customer service was less than desirable. My initial visit was good but, after getting home, I found that my order from the drive thru was not the meal I ordered. I drove all the way back and went back to the drive thru. I got a “I’m sorry” at the speaker from a woman but when I got to the window the she was not apologetic or nice. I tried to hand her the bag with incorrect order but she wanted me to keep it. First, I’m not taking your trash back to my house and it’s not my responsibility to dispose of it. So she finally took it. Secondly, I never received a face to face apology for the mistake or that I had to go all the way back. It’ll be awhile before I return to LJS, hopefully it’ll be...
