After driving 640 miles from Gallup, NM, I was eagerly awaiting my room at the Towneplace Suites MidCity. |||The check in process was NOT smooth. The hotel's "system" had been down since midnight the night before and the only way they could get me to my room was to use a master key to unlock. So, very time I needed to get into my room the process had to be repeated.||Luckily the manager decided to unplug their computer and plug it back in and the "system" was back on line to make key cards for guests.||The GOOD: The staff is very nice. |. The bed is very comfortable. The pillows took some getting used too as they are VERY firm. The room was very clean except for the stove top which had what looked like saw dust on it.. Hats off to the housekeepers. The shower was huge and the hot water was plentiful. There are USB outlets by the desk and by the bed which was great! | The exercise rooms had treadmills, elliptical and a bike. There was also a very small shallow indoor pool. Not big enough to do laps in.||The BAD: Since the rooms have kitchens, the property is meant for people who are staying more than one night. I purchased some food at Walmart (down the street) and went to use the microwave to heat it up/cook it. The microwave is connected to the kitchen lights. Once you flip the switch to turn the lights on, the power to the microwave turns on. Then you have to PROGRAM the microwave in order to use it. When you turn the lights off, the power to the microwave turns off and you have to do the procedure all over again when you need the microwave. Ridiculous. |. The bathroom sink light is not bright enough to see your face/skin while shaving.| The smoke detector in the room flashes a bright white light. When all the lights are off, it's like having a strobe light flashing in the room ever 45 seconds. Not good for light sleepers, or those who sleep with their eyes a bit open. I thought there was a fire when I first saw the flash. It was disturbing and ruined my ability to sleep soundly throughout the night. |* The "breakfast" was a combination of bagels, cream cheese, yogurts, make-it-yourself waffles, cereals, muffins and the WORST powdered "scrambled" eggs I've ever had. Totally inedible. If you're a diabetic, or need to eat low carb, there is absolutely nothing for you to eat here. They also made an egg cup dish with the powered eggs which was just as horrendous as the "scrambled" eggs. The sausage patties were just as bad. The coffee was very hot and very good. I understand cutting corners, but putting 6 real eggs and mixing them in with the powered eggs would make the dish a little more palatable. |* I could not get a receipt upon check out the next morning because the front desk had no internet and the "system" was down.||I will not be staying here again. For a brand new property, it needs an overhaul. I used points for my stay and would...
Read moreThis was an extremely surprising and refreshing stay. I needed to rest during a 17 hour drive and stopped here. I was beyond surprised at the facility. It is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve seen. The layout is more like a nice luxury apartment Miss India Brown was amazing in getting me checked in even though it was after 12 AM. I was so tired and groggy and she was patient kind accommodating got me set up for the next morning. I am so enthralled with this hotel that I have no reason to visit this state but will visit again because I want to stay there again! Miss India Brown was amazing welcoming, accommodating, and patient. The breakfast was really good. There were a variety of items to choose from. The staff that morning were so helpful. There also seemed to be an abundance of staff and usually I am not used to so many people being around to help and support to see what I need. The grounds were immaculate; again this is one of the best hotels I have ever seen. The smart efficient Homey feel of it is just so welcoming and encompassing and I couldn’t have asked for a better sleep, a better stay, a better welcome, a better breakfast, nor a better experience. Thank you so much for what you provided and I recommend anybody and...
Read moreRecently, I switched from Hilton to Marriot. I've been extremely happy with the service provided by Marriot until we stayed here. First, the location was convenient. Plenty of shopping and restaurants in the area. Short drive to the Zoo Ampitheater for a concert. The room was great - clean, comfortable bed, kitchen has everything to prepare meals. Found it biazzare we were charged $150 for our two dogs but they do not have a pet area. We pick up after our pets but a pet area would be nice. At breakfast, I asked one of the folks if either of the breads were dairy free (my daughter has allergies). She responded, "How would I know?". One of the reasons I've started traveling more with Marriot is the knowledge of the staff. This response was a first for me. She did end up going to look at the packaging and stated they both had milk. It was nice they offered alternative milks for coffee and cereal. We left an item in the room that is connected to an app and with relatively high certainty know it was left in the room. Called over multiple shifts and was told a message was going to be left with housekeeping. We never heard any follow-up. Hopefully, it is just due to being a new hotel and things will...
