Some may consider the prices to be a bit expensive however the sandwiches are quite large. Many people only eat half and take the rest home for another meal. They are open from 9am till 6pm so you can stop by for lunch early in the day or in time for a meal at dinner time. Also, they have an app which allows you to order ahead for a quick pick up inside the store.

The staff is very attentive, energetic and entertaining also. Don't act surprised when paying if the cashier hints at tipping. There is a screen at the register to do so. Just choose at least 15% (there are higher options also) if all went well and the entire staff will be very appreciative!

Some favourites are:

Tom's choice is a Roast Beef, Turkey and Cheddar combo served on a baguette. Make sure to say yes when they ask if you want two servings of special sauce! You can even buy your own bottle (around 6 dollars) to take home for later use. A side order of potato salad also goes well with almost every sandwich here.

The California Delight (pictured above) is also another great choice! Turkey, cream cheese and sunflower seeds and sprouts on squaw bread is an excellent combination! It usually only takes me a few minutes to finish the entire sandwich!

If you're into roast beef try either the Baja Beef or the Beef Dip. Both are from the grill which means they are served warm and the Beef Dip even comes with hot au jus sauce in which you can dunk your sandwich.

You can enjoy a beer here too as the name suggests and a soft drink also either in a can or cup. A cup costs two bucks and you can refill as much as you want. Don't forget the napkins since sometimes things...

Board & Brew is a great combination whether your having a beer after surfing or eating off the carving board with a beer. They both make sense here literally. When you think of Del Mar your first instinct is seafood, high end establishments, romantic views. None of that is true here. A Deli unlike most you've seen this is a sandwich deli. Places like Tip Top or true delicatessen do dishes, serve customers for their home and sandwich's.

Often times when you open things in California some expect sprouts, avocado, exotic items that sometimes detract from the simply beauty and flavors of a well made artisan style dish. Most all the menu is not the case. Yes they have avo and sprouts and whatever you want on a sandwich, but what makes this places special is the fresh bread and the amazingly flavorful meats. The portions are not lacking and most are good with a half.

Salad's are big and classic. Fresh with homemade sauces that in fact go good with everything, except maybe the soups and just the beer. The soups aren't too creamy, but are hearty. Nothing too chunky or too stew like. Fresh hand chopped veggies and homemade beef, chicken and veggie stocks are used.

They have a pretty decent selection of beer, both craft, micro and national macros. Tons of local stuff, but honestly it's pretty laid back, but not a place you want to throw a bunch of them back.

Order online, get there 50mins later when it's "ready", but...? Everyone in there is confused as if they're lost or or stoned or both, Truly, IDK. I get asked 3 times what I ordered. Confusing because the ticket in their hands shows my order they received an hour ago, but they act like they don't know why I'm there!? (See pic)

No one even told us they planned to make our food- which I asked about more than once, but only got back confusing responses. After being there for 25 mins I finally got someone's attention by almost having to yell "I think that bag sitting there is our order", yet even then they don't know what I'm talking about and I have to explain it all again?!

1.5 hrs for two sandwiches is bad, but for each of the five employees who unwillingly talked to us to act like it was our fault, not one acknowledging any problem or quickly saying sorry or thanks even just once- Ridiculous. My 9 year old son said what I heard other upset customers saying, "let's not come back here again"... Kind of sums it all up. It's been getting worse over the many years I've been coming here-Two stars only because I'm not a Karen and the food is good, but if this trend continues, I'll probably just take my son's advice and go...
