Doug & Lil's Potato Patch — Restaurant in DeLand

My husband and I stopped in this morning for breakfast and OMGEE!! It was SO good! Our server was a sweet young lady who was very attentive. We enjoyed the food so much we decided to get dinner to go since we are staying in a hotel in Daytona. The special was the Turkey and Dressing. Let me just say WOW!! We got the broccoli soup with it and that soup was AMAZING!! I am not sure who the cook was and let me just say, alot of times they do not get enough credit. Whoever she or he is, you did a phenomenal job. We appreciate the good home cooking. The folks in there dining seemed real friendly. There was a lady sitting across from us telling us how good their food is. She was definitely right. I encourage anyone wishing to get a good home cooked meal with friendly service to give this place a try. I don't think you will be sorry, we sure weren't!! Thank you for the great meals, service and smiles!! It just goes to show you, you don't have to have a big name to have HUGE FLAVORS!! And I was going to pay with a credit card and the waitress was kind enough to offer to let me take care of the bill in a different way if I didn't have it. I am almost 50 years old and NO ONE does things like this anymore. I can never recall anyone doing it at all. I give high fives and hugs to the owners for being so trusting and kind hearted. place needs to be torn down and rebuilt. I am a former health inspector and I have seen this kind of place dozens of times. Look closely at the baseboards and corners and you will see evidence of infestation. With the prices they charge they should be able to afford to rebuild. My waitress was nice but failed to check on me after the food was delivered. About 10 minutes later she dropped off my check without saying a word. So she took my order dropped off food and she was done with me. Seems like rolling the table was more important than earning a tip. As mentioned I am a former health inspector and I also worked in restaurants for over 20 years so I know what to look for, like menus that are sticky, yuck! 1 to 10, 10 being best. Clean 3 Staff 3 Value. 2 because the bacon was of the cheapest veriaty and prices were very high for break fest. $2 for my 3 pieces of cheap bacon. Food 8 good other than the bacon. Had a number of issues...cold food, food came out wrong, took 15 mins to replace 2 eggs and they were burnt when they came out, staff was barely apologetic/rude and did nothing to help or compensate for the mistakes. Just another customer they did not mind to lose. Very disappointing after visiting them before. It is always just a reliable mediocre meal, but used to be a nice experience at least. True colors do come out when there are issues though, and we can't support the business after seeing what we did today. The waitress did nothing but act frustrated and dismissive of us and the cashier asked if we'd like to speak to the boss. When I replied no that's ok (in front of a crowded waiting area), she said "I didn't think you would, go on, take your money and get outta here." -So odd- Gladly...good bye👍don't take a chance on them ruining your meal..too many other great places around town...with credit card machines and better...
