March 30 I’ve been going to this (Delaware, Ohio) city barbecue since it had opened. Food quality is generally quite good. Although I had a run-in today that was not the best with the store manager.
Today, we had a number of folks ordered different items on the app which I’ve used many times in the past. Several customizations to the food ordered.
I Placed the order on the app and it said your order will be ready in about 30 minutes. I go to the store 30 minutes later, and there is no order in the system. They looked diligently and couldn’t find it.
So the person helping me said I’ll get the manager.
And over comes Mr. Flippant. I explained what happened on the app and his response was “I’m not in charge of the app”. He then said to go order from the counter and wait. My response was “the whole reason I used the app was so I didn’t have to wait”. To which he had no response.
I pointed out that he was the face of the business to the customer and I didn’t care if he was in charge of the app or not.
His response after that was,” Do you think I’m In charge of the app and the restaurant”? And then somewhat demanded, I go order from the front counter.
Is customer service really a thing of the past?
There was absolutely no apology that I wasted my time and the app didn’t work. (Remember, I’ve used the app several times in the past)
There was no, No, I’m sorry No, the app sucks No, I feel your pain No, I can look into that No, what can I do to make it right? No, I can give you a number to call about the app No, I apologize for the app not working No, I’m happy to get you in touch with my manager. …….you get the idea
Hence, the name of the store manager, Mr. Flippant
Moral of the story - restaurant is pretty good. The store manager is In need of some Special High Intensity Training. At least in my opinion.
I will submit a complaint to Citi BBQ about the manager.
And of course, while walking out the antagonizing and demoralizing comments started from the rest of the Hecklers (Employees).
I would NOT recommend engaging with any of the staff at this establishment. If you’re gonna go, go through the...
Read moreI will admit that when I walked in , I almost walked right back out. There was no BBQ sauce on the tables, which is a red flag for me at BBQ places. But, we were hungry and decided to give it a whirl. It was good, well overpriced but good. Use the app, and you can get a deal. They actually did have BBQ sauce kind of hidden at the end of the line. But the bottles of sauce were filthy disgusting, so we skipped the sauce, which is super disappointing. Still, the food was so good without the sauce that we quickly got over it. I had a 3 meat sampler with Brisket, pulled pork and chicken. I loved it. My daughter had a pulled pork sandwich that only cost 25 cents when you download the app. I would love to go back and try it with the sauce. They did have real BBQ pits going in there, and the staff was super friendly. The wait between ordering and getting your food was a little longer than is comfortable ,but typical of BBQ joints. Update: City BBQ doesn't actually read these reviews before they...
