Looking for someplace new to try to "wait out" traffic...we love trying a new craft beer any time we can and when I googled and found Stewart's it sounded promising. The reviews looked good, the menu looked good, and they had a decent kid menu, which, having a seven year old picky eater, is important to us.
Quite disappointed to get in there and find out that if you go on a Sunday before 2, you must order off the brunch menu which only had a couple sandwich choices, some apps, or breakfast food. Some of the sandwiches I was reading about sounded so good...but unfortunately none of those were available.
I "settled" for the Stewart's Country Club which was listed as house roasted turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and cheddar. When it came out it looked and tasted just like regular turkey lunch meat with one piece of bacon cut in half, one piece of lettuce, a tomato slice and and a piece of cheese that looked like it had just been unwrapped from it's cellophane. I had also ordered onion rings in place of the fries, but out it came with fries. (The waitress DID take care of that when I mentioned it to her and she realized the mistake).
Hubby ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. Wish I had taken a picture of it before he tore the roll away that didn't have anything rather than taking only a picture of what he had to pull away in order to not eat just bread (and I can't get my pics to download...). I'd never serve a piece of chicken that size on a roll that size..at least butterfly it or serve it with lettuce and tomato to make it look worthwhile.
Kid got pasta with red sauce. It was ok but really, you gotta work to screw up a spaghetti type dish.
French fries were frozen ones with a batter on them, and the onion rings were ok, but also the trypcal frozen beer battered ones. Served with ranch on the side that tasted fine but was runny.
Beer was good. Hubby liked the 5k IPA and I liked the wacky wheat.
Server was nice as well, but service seemed slow for all the busier it was.
I don't like to write places off as "one and done" as you never know if someone is having a off day, or if it's a matter of ordering something that just wasn't what you were expecting, or something like that...but that being said, I can't see us making a return trip when it was all around "just ok" not...
Read moreStewart's Brewing Company is one of my favorite brewpubs in Delaware. I've been going there for years, and I've never had a bad meal or beer. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the beer is always perfectly brewed. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is always relaxed and inviting.
I especially love their seasonal beers. They recently released a pumpkin ale that is absolutely delicious. It's not too sweet, and it has a nice, spicy kick to it. I also really enjoy their Oktoberfest beer. It's a classic Bavarian-style amber lager that is perfect for fall.
In addition to their great beer and food, Stewart's Brewing Company also has a great atmosphere. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, and the outdoor patio is perfect for enjoying a meal on a nice day. They also have a large bar area, so it's a great place to catch up with friends or watch a game.
Overall, I highly recommend Stewart's Brewing Company to anyone who is looking for a great place to enjoy a delicious meal and a refreshing beer.

Here are some additional tips for visiting Stewart's Brewing Company:
They get busy, so it's a good idea to make a reservation if you're going on a weekend. They have a lot of parking, but it can fill up on busy nights. They're kid-friendly, so it's a great place to bring the whole family.

Read moreRight time, right place, righteous bartender. Good beer and food too. Extensive menu, friendly atmosphere, responsible social distancing policy. Enjoyed the Chicken Cordon Bleu bites. The French fries were the best I've had in a while.
Returned twice since initial post date. Regrettably, things didn't go as well on subsequent visits as on the initial visit. The staff was still very cordial and efficient and the french fries were just as tasty.
The problem was with a couple of less successful menu choices, specifically Lumpy's Turkey Sandwich and the Chicken Taco Bites.
The turkey was fatty and unappetizing. And the taco bites were, as far as my taste buds (and my eyes) could tell, were completely bereft of chicken and they had a frozen (as in 'heat and eat) vibe about them. Nothing more than crispy mini taco shells they were with an unidentifiable, tasteless brown paste smeared inside them. Definitely not what I've come to expect from Stewart's kitchen.
Then there is the other issue, the more pressing for me, the BEER. I can't kill 'em for it because I don't know of a better brewery around. But on the latest two visits, they've been out of my three favorite brews: Obscurium, Stumblin' Monk and Irish Red. As I said, I won't abuse them over the brews. After all, at least one of them is seasonal and they do offer a wide variety of acceptable hop-tions. But I'd really appreciate it if they would remove a selection from the menu when it's unavailable. That would ease the pain a little.
That said, for me, Stewart's is still one of the friendliest, most relaxing and enjoyable places to eat, drink and...
