Extremely disappointing experience. Would not return.

I don’t usually leave reviews, especially negative ones, because I understand how hard running a business can be—particularly for newer establishments. But this visit was frustrating from start to finish, and I feel obligated to share.

My wife and I were walking down Atlantic Blvd and were drawn in by the music and aesthetic. The place looked promising. That illusion didn’t last long.

First issue: the server forgot my wife’s $18 drink—not once, but after visiting the table twice without bringing it. No big deal at first. Mistakes happen. But that kind of carelessness became a theme.

When we tried to order, we were told item after item was unavailable—seriously, 2 or 3 different entrees and sides were “86’d.” The menu was already limited, so trying to find something they actually had in stock became a task in itself.

Once we did place our order, it took over an hour for our food to arrive. Not once did our server check on us—we had to get another staff member just to find her and ask what was going on. The lack of basic communication was baffling.

When the food arrived, the portions were small, especially considering the price. The taste? Fine. Nothing memorable, certainly not worth the hassle.

The final straw was the bill: $140 for two meals and two drinks. And without any heads-up, a 20% service charge was added to the check. At no point did the host, server, or anyone mention this policy. It felt deceptive and left a bad taste—worse than the food.

I asked for the manager, who wasn’t much help and frankly came off rude. By that point, we were just ready to leave.

Bottom line: this place charges premium prices but delivers below-average service, small portions, and poor communication. Unless you’re just dropping in for a cocktail and don’t mind surprises on your bill, I’d skip it. The owners seriously need to address staff training, communication, and the overall...

Went last Sunday, July 20, 2025 with my wife. Was informed that restaurant was short-staffed that day. Had to wait for approximately 30 minutes just for our drink order to be taken. Restaurant had only maybe 3 other occupied tables at the time. Ordered an Old Fashioned and a Moscow Mule. Waiter brings drink, attempts to smoke infuse Old Fashioned with gas lighter, high powered fan is located directly behind him and I am downwind from burning hot embers that land on my clothes, I need to quickly brush them off before they burn my clothes. No apologies. Wife attempts to order mac and cheese, the reason she wanted to try this “restaurant” but we were informed they don’t have any at this time, but luckily for us that they would have some later. Unfortunately, we were hungry now, expecting to eat now and not later. I was going to order a catfish sandwich but with nothing else appealing to my wife on the menu, we instead decided to leave for elsewhere rather than have my wife watch me eat and her eat nothing. Paid the bill, along with the mandatory 20% tip included for the “service” waiting half an hour staring at the scenery. I understand that they need to include a mandatory tip based on their clientele, but this eliminates the incentive to provide good service. Drinks were very overpriced for quality and amount received, not to mention my added work brushing off burning embers from my clothes. I would suggest that the staff here keep their resumes current. I just don’t see this place remaining open for too long. Needless to say we would’ve had a much better customer experience and meal at Burger King or Taco Bell so I don’t ever see us returning to this establishment. Maybe in some alternate universe where bad is good this “restaurant” would be a success but I suggest you really spend your money elsewhere, maybe at a place that genuinely values...

The atmosphere was super cute, and I HAVE to shout out DJ Nasty — he’s my favorite DJ and killed it per usual. But unfortunately, everything else about the experience was disappointing. I came from out of town with a party of 12 after seeing the restaurant on TikTok, and it just didn’t live up to the hype. We were seated at 5:27 PM, and I placed my drink order right away. I ordered the chicken and yams entree (which comes with collards and mac & cheese) for $35 — but was told they didn’t have yams, so I subbed for double mac. After that, our server didn’t return to take my food order for what felt like an hour and a half. Mind you, the restaurant only had my party and maybe one other table of 8 people, so the delay didn’t make sense. When the food finally came out, someone brought me 5 wings with a side of mac — not what I ordered. When I pointed it out and pulled up the menu, she told me my correct order was still coming, but based on the timing, it felt like she put the order in after I corrected her. I didn’t receive my food until 7:31 PM (Time stamp on food pic) — over two hours after being seated. At that point, I didn’t even want it anymore. The food itself wasn’t bad, but the experience completely ruined it for me. I just got a to-go box and left. This was definitely not worth the price or the wait. All time stamps are backed up by Life360 and my...

This restaurant was a huge letdown. I try to support Black-owned businesses as a Black business owner myself, but I’m very disappointed. When I got to the restaurant I came at 3:05 and they told me brunch was done. I was no longer able to get brunch, which was fine—I patiently waited. They told me at 4 PM I can get appetizers and at 5 PM I can order dinner. I ordered appetizers at 4 PM. I asked the owner if I can make a to-go order at 4:30 so it can be ready by five. He told me no. Then next to me I see someone receiving lamb chops. I asked the waiter what’s going on? I was told 5 PM and he said “I’m sorry.” So basically there is no customer service here. No one tries to help you and they were literally feeding other people while we wait and ask, “Can we make an order?” On top of that there were flies everywhere, the waiters looked dusty with sagging pants, and nobody knew what the hell was going on. I asked one waiter what time the kitchen reopened because they told me it was closed—she said “I don’t know.” I asked another one and she also said “I don’t know.” No one knows what’s going on here. Please stay away from this restaurant.

ANYONE THAT LIKES SOUL FOOD MUST CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! I came in a little late to grab some food and a drink, found out the kitchen was closing soon, but they said it was was no problem since its a scratch kitchen. They whipped me up the BRAISED OXTAIL, it was insanely good, words dont do it justice. It tasted just like my buddys mom used to make Their signature cocktail list is super unique with cool flavor combos, i had a rum cocktail called TRUTH. It wasnt too sweet ,lime and simple syrup, super refreshing... i came for 1 and ended up having 3. Got a Nice buzz going. I sat at the bar and chopped it up with the bartender TK, he just moved here from new york, so he was a character, super good guy good service, quick to a joke All around the experience was perfect, thursday is ladies night and has a clubbier vibe, but if youre looking for a a more relaxed experience just come a little earlier. It seems like they turn up at the end of the night Im excited to have my brother and his wife check it out here

This place has been on my list for a while, so when a friend suggested brunch here to celebrate her birthday, I was all in—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, but I have to take a moment to brag on the catfish (pictured). Just last week, I had catfish at a very popular soul food spot in middle America—it was good, don’t get me wrong. But this catfish? Impeccable. The batter was next level—seasoned like God touched it Himself. 🤌🏾 The service was top tier, too. The owner walked around personally introducing himself, and you could clearly see he was managing every detail to make sure everyone had a great experience. The music was a whole vibe, and the energy in the room matched. I’ll definitely be back!
