I was here two days ago for the first time and had a very disappointing experience. My friend and I arrived around 11:30 am and picked a table inside (since it was raining), and we had plans to enjoy tea while studying for school. Fast forward two hours later after spending roughly $75.00 on teas, loose-leaf tea, pastry and salad, to then feel unwelcome by the manager. A customer came inside, and rushed to the front counter and said "I'm looking for a table for three people, and there's a girl sitting out there alone at a table for four people." The manager responded, "Okay, we'll move her." My friend overheard all of this mind you, as she was standing in line to order her lunch. The manager frantically came over to me and asked me what I was doing, if I was going to get food, and if I was by myself, she said "I'm looking to seat this table of three". I hadn't realized that this tearoom became a sit-down dining room, when a group of three people came in. This is the same manager who I just ordered a tea, salad and bought a 10 oz. tin of loose-leaf tea (and tipped about 30%) because up until then I felt that the front counter girls were nice. Apparently she forgot that she just took my order and was planning on "making me move" before my food even arrived. I explained to her that my friend was ordering food and more tea, and that it's the two of us at this table but they are more than welcome to take the chairs if they'd like, that warranted an eye-roll and a sigh from the manager who responded, "no that won't work". The group of three went ahead and sat across from us and stared and kept saying "we are moving there when they get up", we both felt incredibly uncomfortable, and decided we no longer wanted to stay in an establishment where we felt like we were being pushed out. Again, I was a paying customer who spent a good bit money for a tea room, but apparently that didn't matter because the group of three customers were more important, in the eyes of the manager. I don't plan on going back ever again, and will go to other coffeehouses and tea rooms in the...

Starting with my phone call to the establishment- what a lovely girl on the other side of the line. I already knew the place was adorable, with all the IG visits I made prior to coming there =) ...and it was beautiful. We were a party of 9 gals, hoping to have a girls only get together for a special birthday. I made sure we arrived early so that we could have the chance to pick and choose a nice spot... The staff was 100% lovely but unfortunately, what looked like the owner, was not as polite to our group. At first we weren't sure if we wanted to sit inside or on the porch (keeping in mind we were the only ones there), and finally when we decided on a spot to sit, what looked like the owner, rudely told us that "the tables were better" and that the sofa area (we decided on) she wanted to keep for larger parties! WE WERE 9, and being in the restaurant business for many years, at a place as cozy as this one, 9 people IS a large party and honestly, any where else, they would have gladly allowed us to pick and choose our table... after breathing in & out a couple of times, not to be so rude back, we did sit where she instructed us to, and went on about our ordering... and guess what, about 20 mins later, when the next people came in, father and son...they chose the pretty little comfy couch we wanted and she obviously didn't say anything, due to maybe realizing she made a mistake? I don't know...but what I can say is that, her attitude towards us made this experience a tad bit uncomfortable! PS: I have NO complaints about the TASTE of the food, the tea and the staff but I may have been charged twice...and so I have to check with them tomorrow to find out IF the 3 cake slices I ordered and paid for, before even sitting down and ordering my food... $26, and then my bill for a salad, a tea & a sage thingie being $43??? I think they may have added the 3 cakes again, and I just didn't realize it... Prices are NO where to be found, and if you are on a budget, your bill may shock you...
Read moreThe food was good but not great. As a competent vegan home cook, I can make veg salads and entrees easily at home. The atmosphere is fun ~ crowded, lively, warm, and the place is full of cool merchandise like crystals and incense. As other diners have noted, there are no prices posted, and I nearly fell over when our two small entrees and two teas came to $43 before the tip! For counter service. For tiny portions. For ordinary food. The little side salad that accompanied my single veg tamal was covered in goat cheese (not mentioned on the menu, and I don't eat dairy), but that happens. But the thing that really irks me, the thing that ensures that I'll never return, is the extraordinary amount of disposable plastic ware used in our lunch: Cups, lids, straws, plates, forks, knives. Any place that claims to give a darn about health and "clean food" (we got a 2-minute spiel from the counter staff person about the uniquely pure water used in all the restaurant's prep) should care at least as much about the environment. But that, sadly, is south Florida: where people selfishly care more about what goes into their own bodies than they care about what goes into the landfills, waste stream, oceans,...
