First time here did not live up to the hype.

The ambiance was nice; basic but clean and organized. I enjoyed the music. I'm not sure if it's the normal choice, but this night it was 90's Rap.

The cocktails and appetizer were the best part of the meal. I ordered The Sun; if you like mezcal and tajin, this drink is for you. The lemon drop martini was very tart, but the sugar rim helped balance it out.

The tenderloin Mac and cheese made it worth coming back for. It came out quickly. The Mac and cheese had great flavor and just the right amount of creaminess; it wasn't too runny or too dry. The tenderloin was extremely tender, though it tasted more like a pot roast. Still delicious! The fried onions on top added a satisfying texture difference and tied in all the flavors. The serving was enough of a meal in it of itself, so it's a great dish to share with others.

My mom and I ordered two meals to split; the shrimp carbonara and the cuban (a special for the day). My mom told our server, Brooklyn, we were sharing both food items. She did not state to bring them out one at a time. The bread of the cuban tasted stale and was rather tough to chew. The pulled pork didn't have much flavor. Overall the sandwich was very dry. The fries were decent; nothing exceptional about them. Brooklyn never checked on us after dropping the food off.

About 20 minutes after finishing the sandwich, Brooklyn finally came to our table. It was at this time I asked if the shrimp carbonara was still coming out. She gave a confused look at the table and stated she would check on it. After a few minutes she returned and stated it would be coming out shortly; no explanation as to why this occurred was given. The table next to us (a two top) received both of their dinners and finished them before we received our second meals.

Another 10-15 minutes passed before the shrimp carbonara was delivered. My mom asked Brooklyn why it took so long for the second dish to come out. Brooklyn stated the kitchen was backed up with a large table. This would mean that the kitchen sent out half a ticket before completing the order, with an entire 20-30 minutes between each dish being served.

What is more likely, and what I believed happened, is that Brooklyn forgot to ring in the pasta dish for whatever reason. She only rang in the appetizer and the sandwich, and when the kitchen completed that order it was sent out. After being called out on her mistake, she then tried to rush the order, but the big tables order slowed things down. It simply does not make sense for a kitchen to send out half the order before completing the ticket. Very disappointed that Brooklyn had the chance to be honest and explain her mistake, but decided to lie instead. Whether it was directly her mistake or not (which I 100% believe it was), it took at least 30 minutes for our second entree to be delivered- this warrants some kind of apology or comp in my opinion.

The shrimp carbonara was nearly inedible. There was way too much pepper and salt. The shrimp was the only good part of the dish. The bacon bits were much too big. We didn't finish it. Brooklyn also did not check on us after dropping the food off.

If you come here, limit yourself to the tenderloin mac and cheese. I will not be rushing to try this establishment again anytime soon, and I will certainly avoid Brooklyn...

We drove down from Oklahoma to meet with our daughter and her boyfriend for lunch. I'm not one to leave bad reviews at all. But I feel the owners need to know and I hope this reaches them. I'll start with first impressions. Walked in at 1 pm (with a reservation) there were 6 dirty tables one of which the hostess had to clean for our party of 4. We did not get greeted by our server until at least 15 after being sat. I worked for 13 years in the service industry, so I could somewhat understand had there been a full house, but it wasn't too busy at that time. When the server finally got to us he did offer us a drink menu, only to find out that the beer I chose to order is no longer available because the brewery closed down. So I picked another and they were sold out of that one. Well I finally picked one that was available. The rest of my party ordered as well. All beers, no prep necessary and they took longer than they should have to come to the table imo, but no big deal we at least had some water on the table. Moving on to the food. When the food came we had to get our own silverware from the bartender, and the guys ordered 2 more bottles of beer. Our daughter ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the chicken on the sandwich and the french fries tasted of old cooking oil. She couldn't finish eating it. Then my shrimp and grits had so much chipotle sauce that it completely drowned the grits. By that I mean the dish had so much sauce that the small amount of grits in the dish was just floating in it and it was spilling over the bowl. Completely disappointing. I ate the 3 shrimp and maybe 4 thin slices of sausage. Leaving me still hungry. The eggs Benedict was okay and the chicken biscuits were okay according to the others. This whole time the server never checked on us and they still hadn't brought the beers we ordered when the food came. When we finished we stacked our plates on the end of the table to be picked up (as so many other services industry folks tend to do). Then the bartender finally served our beers... right over top of our dirty plates which she left there, lol! She literally had to reach over them! Thank goodness we had that bottle of water to eat our lunch with. Our server finally came back by and offered anything else we might need and our check, he did not take our dirty plates either. Please train your servers to pre-bus their tables, nobody cares to look at their dirty plates while having another drink. I did see a busser cleaning other tables, however she was in absolutely no hurry to get her job done. This would've tremendously helped my first impression on seeing all the dirty tables walking in. I can even get over all of the issues had the food been good. I will say that the server was a very polite young man. I wish I had a more positive...

A generous 2☆s. We went for the 1st and possibly the last time last night. Three meals were comped on the ticket, and never had a manager speak with us. What we Ordered: Pimento Cheese dip Filet w/ potatoes and "Smaltz Carrots" Shrimp & Grits + side of brussel sprouts Salmon w/ Risotto and "Smaltz" carrots Southwest Salad (because the salad that was wanted and listed on the menu was no longer available) Kids Mac-N-Cheese / Fries

First-the GOOD... Pimento Chees dip was fantastic!! The childrens Mac-n-cheese (we did NOT order the baked mac-n-cheese) was great and the shaved brussel sprouts were very good.

Now for the bad: Chips for the pimento cheese dip were dusted in what I assume was pure cayenne. I love spice but my son, who loves salsa and some spice had a miserable experience with the chips. Filet looked like it was cooked in the microwave. Now, it WAS ordered medium, but NO crust at all. NO FLAVOR either. Potatoes were "soupy" and had no flavor either and Smaltz carrots were bland at best. Salmon was dry. "Risotto" was more the texture of quinoa (not creamy, and I highly doubt they used arborio rice, so therefore NOT Risotto) and again the carrots were bland... Grits, of the Shrimp-n-Grits were undercooked and grainy. Shrimp was fine but the andouille sausage was way overcooked. It was "curling". Southwest salad had 2 small tortilla strips, 3 small strips of chicken on top, a few black beans, a few kernels of corn, very little Green Goddess dressing but LOTS of raw kale.

Now for the UGLY.... We waited for at least 15 minutes to be greated by a server after being seated. Notice I didn't mention in our order, DRINKS. That is because the waitress forgot to take our order for drinks at 1st. I was able to finally flag her down to order some sparkling wine, tea and coffee... only thing I'm gonna mention here is the French Press coffee they offered was bitter for the drinker, but that very well may have been a personal taste issue, so I would not give bad marks for it unless I myself had tasted it, but I did not. Many things we WANTED to order were not available. Supply chains are insane not necessarily their fault.

Now, if you've read this far please let me say that I HATE leaving ANY negative reviews, especially after a single visit; anyone can have a bad night, but this experience was THAT BAD.

I truly hope they get it back together. Their menu "sounded" very good, but it felt like they have recently lost their chef and the manager was in the kitchen trying to execute a menu that they had no idea how...

This was my wife and I first time at 940 and we were celebrating our daughter's birthday with her and her husband. They live in Denton and had been to 940's Kitchen before and spoke highly of it. All of the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The atmosphere is comfortable and could be a place to dress up for an occasion or be casual. We did have a reservation since it was a Saturday evening which I recommend. The food was all really good. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich with Brussel Sprouts on the side, both were delicious. The chicken is fried and delivered on the heat but not too much to take away from the flavor of the chicken. We did have an issue with two of the meals, both Filets, that came under cooked. It wasn't until they were half eaten that they spoke up but they could not tolerate the rareness of the steak. The server was more than pleasant about it and put in another order. The manager came and apologized and the chef brought out the new Filets once they were ready. Many restaurants would put this on the customer and be upset they had the complaint or had to replace food. This was handled professionally and with the customer in mind. This is the way to create repeat business and satisfied customers. THANK YOU!! A note to future customers, if you are faced with a situation similar to this, here or anywhere, the response you recieve may be a direct response to how you are handling it. Be kind, courteous, and understanding and you will likely be pleased with what you get in return.

Checked out 940 last night to celebrate a friend's wedding and had an amazing time. We were able to reserve a table and get sat once most of our party was there. Our server, Sydney, was so wonderful and welcoming! I checked out the drink and food menus and decided on the tenderloin grilled cheese, which came with a mix of American and Fontina cheese, sunny side egg, onion jam, and tenderloin. I asked Sydney about scrambling the egg instead of having it sunny side and she recommended that I get it cooked hard because it tastes great with the sandwich. She said she would check with the kitchen, and they were able to make the adjustment. For my drink, she recommended the berry basil mule. I was thinking it was going to be sweet, but combined with the basil, it had just a hint of sweetness that made it easy to sip and enjoy! Our food came out quickly, and we all ordered something different, so we got to try each other's entrees. My grilled cheese was not super heavy, and the combination of the American and Fontina cheeses was perfect. I love that I was able to swap out the fries for green beans. The green beans were amazing--garlic with a hint of sweetness. Everything was so good! The vibe was good as well. My friends and I were able to laugh and have a good time. The staff enjoyed our joy, and they made our experience delightful! I can't wait to come back and I would highly recommend coming here!
