I rarely leave bad reviews because i understand people make mistakes and have bad days. Heck, i work at starbucks, i know how the industry is. I get the employees here are teens-young adults. My mom is very allergic to nuts and we always make sure to ask before hand about a product before purchasing at any place. My mom asked what the "salty dog" flavour was and if it had nuts. They told us it is salted caramel and it does not have nuts. It is a white ice cream with caramel ribbons. We go to the register to pay and they hand my brother his ice cream cone and ring us up. They go to make my moms sundae and my malt so we sit down. I look up a couple minutes later and see a sundae sitting on the counter so i tell mom to go check it. She looks at it and asks the girl on register if it's hers and the girl just stares at my mom. The other girl "isabella" also stares at my mom and proceeds to ask me if i want whip cream and a cherry. But i don't hear her at first bc i'm sitting a few feet away paying attention to my mom. So i ask "mom, is it yours?" And my mom says she doesn't know because they won't answer her. Isabella asks again do i want whip cream and mom relays it to me so i say uhh sure. Then she hands me my malt and leaves. Mom takes the sundae since there's no one else and they never answered us so she assumes it is hers. A bite in she says it tastes like nuts. I taste it and sure enough it tastes like peanut butter. So i go ask the girl Isabella if the salty dog has nuts because my mom tastes them and she is allergic. She says no. It's caramel. So my brother tastes it and says it tastes like almonds. I don't taste any caramel at all. We also noticed that this ice cream was dark brown. So my mom takes it up to the counter and tells them that she thinks it was mixed up. They probably gave us the snickers or almond joy that was right beside the salty dog tub. Isabella is very rude and says "so what do you want" and my mom gets a different flavour to subsitute. They give my mom a very small scoop of ice cream with a tiny bit of whip cream and chocolate drizzle. She was hesitant to give the toppings for some reason. All i can say is admit your mistakes and apologize. Fix the situation and not make it worse. It's not hard. Mistakes happen. This is not the way to...

If you’re not prepared to have a full-blown emotional experience over a scoop of ice cream, then do not let your flip-flops carry you through the doors of Beth Marie’s on the Denton Square. But if you're ready to cry over dairy in public like it's the final scene of a rom-com? Buckle up, baby. Beth Marie’s is waiting—with a cold spoon and open arms.

Let’s talk flavors. There are so many, I briefly disassociated while staring at the chalkboard. It’s like walking into an ice cream fever dream curated by a brilliant sugar wizard with a PhD in Joy. I tried the Texas Honey Whiskey and, for a moment, forgot every bad thing that’s ever happened to me. It’s smooth, just boozy enough to feel like you’re up to no good, and finishes like a sweet Southern whisper reminding you that life is beautiful.

And then—the Baa-Baa Blackberry. What in the artisan goat cheese sorcery is this?! It’s creamy. It’s tangy. It’s got a whisper of thyme, like Beth herself snipped it fresh from the Garden of Delights and stirred it in while softly humming Fleetwood Mac. I licked the spoon clean. No shame, no regrets.

And listen—my go-to is their banana split. It haunts my dreams in the best way. When I’m feeling indecisive or dramatic (which is often), it’s my golden ticket. Every scoop in there deserves a standing ovation.

Now, the waffle cones? Thick. Golden. Fresh. Like the kind of cone that could carry a long-term relationship on its back. None of that flimsy sugar cone nonsense. This cone is supportive. Crunchy. Marriage material. I’d swipe right.

The vibe? Oh honey, it’s not your sterile, fluorescent-lit chain situation. This place is a vintage dream tucked into the heart of Denton, run by local teens who take their ice cream duty very seriously. There’s character in the walls, probably a few summer love stories carved into the tables, and a quiet magic in the air that makes you want to buy a sundress and join an acoustic folk band.

In summary: Go to Beth Marie’s with people who get you. Or go alone and let the ice cream do the healing. Just go. Try something weird. Get a scoop you can’t pronounce. Follow it with Cookie Monster just to keep yourself humble.

And if anyone asks if it’s worth it? Tell them Nova sent you—with sticky fingers, a full heart, and a...

The ice cream is good, but my review is based on my experience this past weekend. I had friends in from Portland. I decided to take them to the square and told them Beth Marie's was great. I was very embarrassed. Of course there was a line all the way to the back so her husband and child went back there while we waited to hold a table. My friend got up to peer into the ice cream flavors to see what she may want in between people in line. One of the girls behind the counter very rudely said "You can't cut!" She looked at her and said "Oh, I'm not. I was just looking to see what the flavors looked like." The girl, again very rudely, says "Well the flavors are listed up here on the board. Everyone else would like to look too but you have to wait your turn." Now, keep in mind that they start taking your order before you even get to the ice cream, so it really is hard to be able to look at all of the flavors. Also, the descriptions are not listed under the flavors. God forbid someone have a nut allergy and order something based on the name of the flavor without seeing the product in all of the rush. Shortly after this, our group was up and we ordered. The same girl comes back to my friend while she's giving another girl her order and says "YOU CUT!" while pointing at her. I was so shocked. I told her let's just go and not give them our business. My friend is nicer than me, though. She politely told her " No, it's our turn." The girl says "I just watched you cut!" This time I stepped in. I pointed at my friend's husband and said "He's been waiting in line while we hold the table. It is our turn." She looks at him and says "Oh." Then walks away. I understand you want to have order but come on. She was so very rude about it and it was very embarrassing for me to tell them how great this place was and then give them an...

Review: Beth Marie’s Ice Cream – A Must-Visit Gem in Denton Square Beth Marie’s Ice Cream is easily one of the most charming spots we’ve visited in Denton — and hands down has the coolest interior we’ve seen in any ice cream shop. The nostalgic decor, retro vibes, and colorful details make it a fun and memorable place to hang out, whether you’re a local or just passing through. Located near the bustling Denton Square, the shop offers a great atmosphere, warm lighting, and plenty of seating. It’s very kid-friendly, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer — fantastic service all around. But the real star here is the ice cream itself. The flavors are vibrant and creative, ranging from classics to more adventurous options, all made in-house. Their sundaes and shakes are rich, satisfying, and beautifully presented — perfect for both kids and grown-up sweet tooths alike. Beth Marie’s is more than just an ice cream stop; it’s an experience. Whether you’re strolling around the square or looking for a family-friendly outing, this place is an absolute must-visit in Denton. Highly recommended for anyone craving great dessert in a fun, welcoming setting.

Legend has it that Beth Marie, one of the original owners, along with Dr. Randy Cox travelled to a remote Alaskan mountain range, due southwest out of Skagway in search of a small diamond mine, only known by the locals. On their expedition it was said that Beth slipped on the ice and after hitting her head pretty hard, the perfect ice cream recipe passed through her cerebral cortex. They left Alaska without diamonds, but with something far more valuable. Upon landing back in the states Beth & Dr. Cox proceeded to open what is now known as Beth Marie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream. The ice cream here is so good it makes you believe in destiny, head injuries, and the raw power of dairy. Every flavor feels like it was whispered into existence by arctic spirits. The waffle cones? Engineered by angels. The vibe? Vintage parlor charm with just enough eccentricity to make you wonder if there’s still a secret Alaskan flavor hidden in the back. If you haven’t had a scoop of Beth Marie’s, you haven’t truly lived—or at least, you haven’t truly licked. Diamonds may be forever, but Beth Marie’s ice cream is eternal.
