this happened awhile ago & it still rubs me the wrong way. it’s not about the food, but about the manager miss amy. now i would love to rip into her right now, but i’ll keep it pg. i had an interview awhile back for a BUSSER, you know the job where you literally clean tables, sweep, mop, take out trash, overall it’s just keeping things clean? i don’t know about anyone else, but i happen to have a home that i clean almost everyday, and i also am currently a barista meaning i have a work place i also clean almost every day given i now work almost every day. at the time of this incident, i had recently just started my job as a barista, so i wasn’t working very much, i was in the process of moving into a new apartment and i needed all the extra money i could get. so i applied to be a busser at cHeDdArS and i had my first interview with a lovely lady named Courtney. now, my interview with courtney went so great. we chit chatted, we laughed, she was so kind and professional and it lasted about 45 minutes. i walked out with a good feeling about my second interview. i had called for amy on a monday to set up my second interview as courtney instructed me to do and it was around 4:00pm and amy said to come at 5:30. i rushed to get ready, the traffic on the way there was hell and i was panicking because i was going to be late. i got there at 5:30 on the dot, thank god right? i wasn’t late! little did i know, it wouldn’t have mattered if i was late. i got there, the hostess let amy know and you know what i did? i sat there for 45 minutes before amy finally approached me. now at first, i was like okay okay it’s fine, she was doing another interview & it happened to last 45 minutes. but it’s what happened after she finally came and got me that really just boils my blood a little. she brings me to a table and she says she’ll be right back. i wait another 5-7 minutes and she comes back with my paperwork from my first interview and some new paperwork. now i will admit, i’m a very nervous person when it comes to interviews. i get sweaty, and i stutter and stumble over my words every now and then, but i’ve always been under the impression that it’s normal and okay to be nervous. so, i was even more nervous with miss amy because right off the bat she wasn’t very nice. a very passive aggressive, condescending lady. this woman asks me ONE question. for 10 minutes she’s asking me where did you work before this, and where did you work before that, you get the picture. i went all the way back to my first job at 16, baring it was very hard for me to remember that far back. (i turn 22 in march). so i started to struggle a little bit and get even more nervous the further back she asked. after 10 minutes, she cuts me off, shakes my hand & just tells me “so i’m not gonna offer you the job, have a good day” and walked off and that was IT??? did i sit there for like 20 seconds in shock and confusion? yes i did. was i speechless? yes i was. did i want to grab the shitty sweet tea they gave me and throw it at her? absolutely. you essentially just wasted an hour and a half of my time for LITERALLY NOTHING??? i waited almost an hour just for you to ask me one question and then base your decision off of that one question?? anyways, just needed to get that off my chest. i found it very unprofessional & just flat out rude and inconsiderate. i hope everyday that she gets fired🫶🏼 shout out to courtney though, you’re...
Read moreIf I could rate Cheddar’s based solely on the food, this review would be an enthusiastic 5 stars with fireworks, confetti, and maybe a marching band. The meal was that good. But sadly, I can’t ignore the one thing that dragged the whole experience down: the god-awful trivia on the iPad at the table. More on that in a second.
Let’s talk about the good first—because it deserves praise. I ordered the chicken fried steak, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it might be the best I’ve ever had. The portion was massive, the breading was perfectly crispy, and the steak itself was so tender I barely needed a knife. It came smothered in the most glorious country gravy—peppery, creamy, and poured with no restraint. I would’ve gladly taken a gravy IV drip.
The mashed potatoes were real-deal homestyle, not some sad powdered mix pretending to be the real thing. The green beans were seasoned and smoky, like someone’s grandma was back there stirring them in a cast iron pot. Everything tasted fresh, made with love, and perfectly portioned for someone with a serious appetite (like me).
The service? Fantastic. Our server was friendly, quick, and kept drinks full without us having to ask. The food came out hot and fast, and every part of the experience felt smooth and welcoming. Honestly, Cheddar’s knows how to run a dining room and make people feel taken care of.
Now, on to the reason I’m giving only 3 stars: that cursed iPad trivia game.
You know those little tablets they have at the table, where you can pay your bill, order dessert, or keep yourself busy while you wait? Harmless enough—until you start playing one of their trivia games. What followed was 15 minutes of digital misery.
First of all, the trivia questions made no sense. They swung wildly from “What color is the sky?” to “Name the 14th-century mathematician who invented the concept of imaginary numbers.” No joke. It was either insultingly easy or PhD-level hard, with nothing in between.
Second, the touchscreen was laggy and unresponsive. Half the time, we’d tap an answer and it wouldn’t register, or it would jump to the next screen and skip the question entirely. Some rounds glitched out completely. No scoreboard, no structure—just chaos in tablet form.
And worst of all? They try to charge you to play more rounds after a while. That’s right—you get roped into a frustrating, broken trivia experience, and then they ask for money to keep suffering.
So while the food and service were top-tier, I left with a bad taste in my mouth—not from the steak (that was flawless), but from the pointless aggravation of that trivia game. It felt like being served a gourmet meal in a room with a fire alarm going off in the background.
TL;DR: Go to Cheddar’s. Get the chicken fried steak. Love your life. But for the love of God, don’t touch that...
Read moreAbsolute WORST Cheddars location I’ve ever encountered. I’ve given them multiple chances before posting this review because I understand people can have a bad day or issue with staff. We’ve tried four times. The first time we just noticed dirt on seats, a few spots here and there that were very unclean in the restaurant overall but again could be due to staffing, being busy, etc. next time we come it’s even dirtier and the bathrooms are nasty. There’s running water on the floor across the entrance to the bathroom area and no one cares, even after reporting that someone could slip and fall. The third time we try, there’s trash littered all over the floor of the entryway and the hostesses are standing around doing nothing. We are then seated at a dirty table. When we asked for a cloth to clean the table, she puts our menus down IN the food and spillage on the table and goes to get a washcloth. Halfway wiped the table then put the dirty menus back down. The rest of the restaurant was disgusting and it was not very busy. We left and called to inform the manager of why in attempts someone will correct the issues. He says he’s very sorry and hasn’t been working here long but trying to address concerns. Asks us to give them another chance sometime on him. We’ve waited over a month and finally come back tonight thinking it was a good time to try again. As I’m trying to even get into the restaurant, I’m stabbed in the foot by a broken piece on the bottom of the door. Had I not grabbed the door handle I would have fallen on my face, and I did in fact twist my knee which is now still hurting. As I entered I informed the THREE hostesses who were just standing there. One of them replies “oh, you’re at least the third person that’s said that. I guess I can tell a manager”. I wait to be seated before asking for the manager and we explain what happened to her. She of course apologized and was nice but offered no resolution and didn’t seem to feel it was much of an issue even after being informed that is a lawsuit liability. We even stated we understand there can be issues with getting employees to which she stated “oh no we don’t have that issue”. She didn’t even say the meal would be on them even though we told her that was the reason we were there per the other managers invitation. Please don’t come here and don’t give them your money that would be better served at a local business that really needs it.
Also, the water is still running across the floor when you go toward the bathroom area. I asked two employees standing nearby if this was a constant issue and they knew nothing about it. There were still no signs or attempts being made to clean it up.
On a positive note, our server, Lauryn was nice and tried to take...
