I’ve been to this place once before last month, and honestly, my experience felt rushed. I will say their onion rings are phenomenal. Most definitely a highlight. Today, I dined in and realized after having to repeat my order nine times that the same girl working the drive-through is also the one serving inside. It became clear that they’re short-staffed, and she seemed overwhelmed. Not a single smile!
One thing I didn’t realize before: while they claim the burgers are made fresh daily, they’re not made fresh to order. The patties are already cooked and just sitting there when you order, they grab a patty, throw it on a cold bun, add your toppings, and that’s it. You only get a warm bun if you specifically ask for it, like I did when I requested it toasted. And they seemed bombarded by my ask! PLUS, I had to repeat my order multiple times and she was annoyed (even though she was the one asking me to repeat it), and when the manager got involved, he didn’t seem to care much either — in fact, he seemed a little bothered. I asked if they had a kids’ meal burger option, and he told me, verbatim: “I will charge you full price and give you half a hamburger.” How ridiculous is that? If I’m paying full price, I might as well get the full burger.
Just to be clear, I didn’t come looking for anything free. I came prepared to pay for what I thought would be fresh food. Today, I found out that’s not exactly the case.
So if you’re planning to visit for the first time or coming back, my advice would be to specifically ask them to cook your burger fresh when you order it. Otherwise, you’re getting a burger that’s been sitting.
That’s my honest review. I will be back, mainly because the onion rings and the burgers themselves aren’t bad, they’re just not...
Read moreCounty Road Burger isn’t just a burger joint—it’s a time machine that takes me straight back to my childhood. My dad used to bring me here, and hearing it was going chain-style had me bracing for disappointment. But let me tell you… the revamp is phenomenal. It’s still the DENTON BURGER I needed, the one I remembered, but elevated.
The homestyle fries? Cooked to crispy perfection. The beans? Oh, they’re beaning like nobody’s business. And the burger? Thick, juicy, and unapologetically glorious. Even without the old messy toppings bar, the magic hasn’t faded—it’s evolved.
But here’s the secret sauce (and I don’t just mean ketchup): the condiments and spices. I can transform a simple plate of fries into a completely new masterpiece every visit. Beans? Same deal. Every bowl feels like a little culinary adventure.
This place hits every nostalgic note while still feeling fresh, fun, and exciting. County Road Burger isn’t just a local gem—it’s ready to make waves beyond Denton, and I for one will be cheering them on from every zip code they conquer. If you haven’t been, you’re not just missing a burger; you’re missing a slice of Denton...

The only reason I’m not giving five stars here is because the burgers are entirely too well done. Extra well done burgers are a complete turn off for those of us who do NOT like beef well done, and it killed the flavor of what would’ve been a beautifully grilled burger.
TO THE OWNER: With ground beef, that is clearly high quality, why are the burgers so completely overdone? Patrons at a burger house, just like at a steak house, should be able to order a burger as they like it. Extra well done ruins a good steak, and it ruins a good burger too.
There are a number of comments in the other reviews regarding this issue.
We’ll give it a second try but, sadly, another round of extra well done burgers will deter us from...
