So me and my family come into this restaurant at least twice a month and we have never had an experience like this before. Tonight it was just me and my mom and we had a server I can't recall her name but she had a British accent we've had her before and she's usually a great server really kind and upbeat but tonight was not her night. I get it we all have off nights but there is no need to be rude we had to keep calling her over for refills on our drinks I called her over after we finished our chicken flautas They were so good btw. to let her know that the steak in our steak fajitas was not very good and that we barely touched it but before I could even finish letting her know what was wrong she goes." I cannot help you I will go get the manager" and she waves her arms and rolls her eyes. look I get it we all have our bad days but when your job is to serve and be of service then do it or don't work in the service industry. the manager comes over doesn't let me finish explaining what is wrong I didn't even ask for the meal to be taken off considering we had eaten all of the vegetables and had one piece of steak between me and my mother off of the fijitas but the manager with black hair and glasses begins to wave his hands in our face and tells us that in a steak restaurant we would have had tried our steak and let the server know if it was good or not. our server didn't even ask how the food was not once did she come over to check on us and see how the meal was and to top it off we ate the chicken flautas first we hadn't even touched the steak yet when we realized it wasn't good I will personally say that I won't be back for a while it makes my heart sad because this was one of my favorite spots it really made me uncomfortable that the manager had his hands 2 inches away from my face complaining to me about me not...
Read moreThis place is my favorite restaurant in Denton. It was my grandmothers favorite also. She passed away a few years ago. I love eating here because it reminds me of her. Everything has always been wonderful when I come here. Except this time, when me and my fiancée came, it didn’t feel welcoming. The host didn’t look up at us nor greeted us when we walked in. Not even the other staff in the restaurant said anything to us and some of them were not busy and not doing anything at the time. We stood at the podium for nearly five minutes awkwardly until the host finally got up and grabbed menus and asked us for a table or booth. She brought us to our table and sat down our menus and walked away without saying a word. It was very off putting but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Our waitress was somewhat friendly but in the way we could tell it was only because we were her table and she had to serve us. During our dining experience we noticed numerous different staff come around to all the tables around us and interact with them while skipping our table. I still gave them the benefit of a doubt, maybe it was because we had just sat down. The food was exceptional like always. I left a 10 dollar tip on a $45 dinner. When me and my fiancé got to our car, my fiancé said the staff was staring at us in a judgmental way as we left. I wasn’t paying attention so I didn’t notice. We both agreed that we felt neglected and unwelcome at the establishment. We didn’t do anything and didn’t say anything. We simply were trying to enjoy our time at dinner. I’m leaving this review in hopes the management sees this and give the staff a little pep talk and remind them about being courteous and welcoming to all walks of life that come to enjoy...
Read moreThis review is a culmination of several experiences, gathered from friends, family and myself.
The main host was not too rude, but not friendly, either. I had to repeat myself several times just to get a seat, and he seemed to be getting impatient. Something similar happened with my friend on two occasions.
The location actually is pretty depressing, and though the inside is not as ugly as its surroundings, I've seen far more impressive establishments.
Personally, my main problem is that they cut the fajita beef in my order into tiny, tiny cubes. The reason I wanted this style of meat was to get away from the smaller, ground-meat style. So I'm not sure why the it was like that, especially when I asked, about it ahead of time, and was told not to worry, "we have big, juicy chunks of beef". This was not actually so.
Aside from this, the beans were soupy, and it took longer than usual to get some chips and salsa sent to the table --this occurred on two different visits.
I'd say, if you're just looking for something in the neighborhood, go ahead and try it out. But if you want a slightly better evening (or day), then shop around, it will probably be worth it..Villa Grande, down the street, is better all the way around, but is slightly more expensive.
Update: Aside from the beans still being mostly soupy, they seem to have improved on many points: meat was more tender, and the service was quite actually exceptional --the sever struck the right "visit balance," and made sure we were filled up on everything. Our sever was "Javin," though I'm not sure if we have his...
