I simply cannot understand how anyone could rate this place more than a 1 star. The service and food was awful, like something out of Kitchen Nightmares. My faith has been shaken in the agency who gave this place a Best of Denton 2024. Must be a low bar. Just look at the high reviews pictures. Looks like a kid made the food..
I ordered two chalupas, a grande burrito, and an enchilada plate (tamale, chicken, beef). My first warning sign should've been the sound of an electric can opener and click-clack of a microwave after I ordered. The chalupas flat and hard shelled - identical to a tostada. The rice was so overcooked each grain looked like a mini hot dog bun. The beans were canned, the meat was under seasoned, and the enchilada sauce was canned too - 100% guarantee. My wife, myself, and all 3 of my kids took one bite of our food and immediately lost our appetites. I brought the food back to the counter to raise these concerns, very nicely by the way, but what came next from the owner was shocking. When I let him know we got tostadas instead of chalupas, he told me that chalupas are meant to be hard, flat shelled. I later did some research and that is far from the truth. When I mentioned the rice seemed over cooked he began screaming at me asking if I expected him to make fresh rice for every customer. I let him know that the beans and enchilada sauce didn't seem fresh either and he continued screaming that I wasn't making sense and making stuff up.
Mere minutes into the conversation his eyes were bloodshot and he was shaking. I even apologized if he didn't like my feedback, but he wouldn't stop screaming. His employees came up to him telling him to calm down as well. By that point I told him I was leaving because I was actually afraid he might physically attack me. $50 down the drain. This place is a scourge in this city and reflects the expedient downturn Denton is going. Time to get out of this hell...

Wow if a couple of extra ounces of salsa is the fine line between profit and bankruptcy ya'll should really take the next day or two off, go to YouTube, and search some tutorials. I suggest typing something like, "Me and my very own Restaurant - 101/Customer Service/value" in the search bar.
So I then asked if salsa is free inside.
Reluctantly, the manager said yes.
I asked if they would mind handing one of their salsa dispensers from inside through the window for a sec so I could properly dress my burrito.
The manager said nothing...closed the window...then out came an employee who game me my extra two extra ounces of salsa.
"They tell us we have to say that" she said.
Ah...ok.
See folks. If you go to say, chipotle, free birds, Rosas, Fuzzys, Torchies, or ANY other burrito / taco joint....they'll give you extra salsa.
Mi Casita mgmt will fight you for it tho. And I do recall a time they would even charge you for a cup of water through the drive thru (at last check they have since stopped).
So I have to ask myself then...is the food really worth the hassle?
I mean...It is after all a nice change from all the similar, aforementioned eateries, especially if you have a hangover.
But my answer is....unfortunately No, not really.
However...if they could just learn from the market around them (or watch Youtube)
Then... maybe.

Read moreAfter more than two decades of eating here enough is enough. I went yesterday and ordered three potato, egg, cilantro and onion breakfast tacos and got quesadillas with large chunks of corn and canned mushrooms. I called and the owner’s oldest daughter answered. I told her I was overcharged and was extremely friendly and polite, waited on the phone for 9 minutes while she fumbled around repeatedly yelling at me saying she was “talking to her staff” while I just waited and listened to her giving her the exact time, amount, last four of my card, order details and then she hung up on me. I called back and asked if the man who answered was Matt (the owner) and he told me it was Matt, but it was apparently actually his brother, who then told me he voided the transaction, which I found out today was a lie. Today, I call back and talk to Matt and he doesn’t remember me, know who I am, doesn’t want me to come to his restaurant, but simultaneously accused me of doing the wrong thing by not just coming back and demanding more food. So impolite and mean-spirited, as a family business I can see why they have gone from having several locations to one over the years because there is no love or appreciation for loyal customers, even when they have repeated issues like this. I only wish Marisol had been there when I called after she walked out to the drive-thru line to take my order, because she was super sweet. This family does not deserve employees...
