Usually, I prefer to share reviews when I’m happy, but this time, I’m posting with deep disappointment. As Indians, we have specific days when we refrain from touching anything related to meat, and this was one of those days for me. Based on some reviews, I learned that this restaurant can prepare vegetarian versions of Korean food.
Last Saturday night, I ordered Spicy Stir-Fried Rice Cake and Tofu Soup as vegetarian options. I clearly mentioned several times that I didn’t want any meat or animal protein and needed it strictly vegetarian. Since I ordered at the last minute, I opted for takeout.
When I got home and opened the food, I found that the Tofu Soup had egg drop in it, and the rice cakes contained fish cake. I was so disappointed that I ended up going to bed without eating. Since the restaurant is closed on Sundays, I called them today to explain the situation.
The first thing they said was that they hadn’t added any meat protein to the dishes. Then they shifted the blame, saying that the cashier hadn’t mentioned I wanted vegetarian, which is why they added fish cake and eggs to the recipes. When I asked if they could do anything, such as a replacement or refund, they flat-out refused and said, "Why did you take that order in the first place?"
Oh, God. I specifically asked for a vegetarian version, and I trusted that they would prepare it as requested. They were polite, but their words came across as passive-aggressive and dismissive. They never replaced the food or offered a refund, leaving me completely dissatisfied.
Please think twice before ordering takeout...
Read moreWas craving some comfort food (I may look white as rice but I was raised by my Korean grandmother 🤣) so I thought I’d finally try this place out since I’ve lived right down the road from it for years now. I typically will just make the drive to Carrollton to get my fix, or just cook at home when I have time to go to Hmart.
Anyways I ordered a Beef Bulgogi Eagle Box and I was a bit disappointed. The meat was not tender, and most of it was extremely fatty. Personal preference of mine, but typically with bulgogi I can withstand the few extra chewy bits…but this was 95% meat I was gnawing on for minutes until I eventually gave up. Of that entire portion I was maybe able to eat 1/4 of it. I ended up using my own gim to eat up the rice and kimchi. Speaking of the kimchi, I don’t know if it’s made in house but I really enjoyed it! Nice spice level and wasn’t too sour.
I wasn’t expecting onion rings, they were just meh. The shrimp tempura was completely flavorless, however I dipped mine in some ssamjang (not sure if they offer sauces at the restaurant the menu is very vague). The dumpling was good, I would likely get a full order of those next time.
Overall, good option for homesick students. I don’t think I’d ever order the Bulgogi again but I am interested in trying the kimchi...
Read moreI like the food so far from one door dash delivery (first time eating food from this place) and one to go visit (2nd time). From to go: The grilled mackerel is pretty good. Gonna get a 2nd lunch out of it because I also got Kim bap. And the mackerel is a meal of its own with the amount of rice and fish you get. There are small bones but you can eat with or pick as you go. I love the green onions on the fish. Kim bap is good too. From delivery: also had grilled mackerel. It saves and reheats well to me on next day basis. Haven't tried longer term storage. Bibim bap wasn't bad. I ate it all except for maybe the last few grains of rice. But not as good as it could have been if I ate it in the restaurant in a hot stone bowl instead of from delivery. So I oughtta try it again. The sides are two kinds of kimchi and either fresh cuts of some other veggies (white and carrots) or broccoli in a white dressing kinda like ranch but maybe not entirely. All edible and not bad if you like kimchi. Inside is simple. This place is about, per its name, the taste of their food. I...
