We were pretty excited to head to Adobo as the food truck did the catering for our wedding and we had a friend who was playing live music. When we arrived, there wasn’t anyone to seat us so we sat next to an At the end of the biempty table that had piles of dishes. As other friends arrived, the sole server came by and took most of the dishes from the table. Our table was never wiped down. We waited quite a while and finally my wife tried to order drinks at the bar, but was turned away and told to order drinks at our table. After over an hour of waiting and the table who sat down after we arrived already had food and drinks, one of our friends flagged down the server and the table put in our order. We waited another 45-50 minutes and the table’s orders were brought out, but egg rolls that weren’t ours were delivered to us and our drinks and food for my wife and I were not brought out and we were told they were being brought out “as they were ordered.” Finally, the owner came by and brought out our food. The food was pretty good as we hoped, but anything after 2 hours of waiting would have been appealing. The waiter slammed food items on our table and barely spoke to us. At the end of the night, my wife paid the bill and realized that we were being charged for the gf rolls we didn’t order and the drinks we didn’t receive. The experience was a complete mess and nobody apologized once for mistakes or waits. I heard from one of our friends that two people had called in that night, but the place was full but not packed and other than our group not many people came in after we did. By the time we actually received food, several tables had left and were empty. Honestly, extremely disappointed and won’t...
Read moreHad a really interesting experience here. Definitely very friendly service and the food owner has a unique story. The food though didn’t hit the mark.
I ordered a bowl of green chili since this restaurant boasts a menu featuring both Filipino and New Mexican cuisine. However, I wouldn’t recommend the green chili to anybody. There were maybe two spoonfuls of the actual stew at the bottom which tasted more like garlic than fresh chiles… then piled with their carnitas which was stringy (indicating overcooked and dry) and potatoes that were cooked at too high a temp so the outside was over browned and tasted burned while the insides were undercooked and hard.
My grandma got the chile relleno and I had a taste and the breading was THICK. Thickest breading I’d ever had on a relleno and it tasted like it had been premade and sitting under a heat lamp because the breading had gotten a bit stale.
I think they have their mind in the right place with family inspired food, and high quality ingredients, but it’s also very likely they have too many menu items. Coming here for the first time could be overwhelming when in reality there are two distinct cuisines separated on the menu.
One example is they have a “smoked carnitas” taco and an “og carnitas” taco. I added carnitas to my chile and asked if it’s the smoked carnitas or the og and he said it’s all the same. When it came it didn’t actually taste smoked so it looks like the only difference is toppings on the taco?
Idk overall clean spot, friendly service, but the food prices and concept do not match the actual quality of...
Read moreWe went for lunch here today. I should have checked out the menu before we went. I have driven past this place a few times and judging from the their logo and decor, I was expecting New Mexico style food. I was dead wrong. I didn’t get the memo that this was an Asian/Mexican fusion place. There were several Filipino dishes on the menu and the New Mexican dishes all seemed to have some sort of twist to them. I guess “creative” would be a kind way of describing the menu. We got chips and salsa. The salsa was kind of weird tasting but not bad. It had a lot something that was kind of stringy in it and that was a bit off putting for me and frankly made it more difficult to eat. I got a smothered burrito with “smoked carnitas”. I figured that was relatively safe. I guess “smoked carnitas” is really just pulled pork with bbq sauce on it. It was a shock to bite into a burrito and get a sweet taste. It was not that good. My wife got an asada burrito that was filled with unchewable gristle. I did eat a decent portion of mine but it was not what I really wanted out of a carnitas burrito. I will say that the burritos are huge. They could probably sell their burritos for cheaper if they made them a size that a normal human could eat. We came here on a Sunday which supposedly is happy hour all day and everything is supposed to be $1 off but when I got my bill that was not the case. There was also a $2 “dine in fee” which was a surprise. Our bill was about $50 for 2 giant weird burritos, chips and salsa and 2 soft drinks. I...
