Summary: Brilliant Tres Leche Cake!!!! Amazing rich flavor, delicious frosting, I'm not even sure how the frosting is made but it was incredible. This will be the not just the cake I measure other cakes by; but the desert I measure all deserts by!
I ordered a Tres Leches cake for my birthday from Rosales, and I am going to give a very poor attempt at describing this amazing cake. First off you get a layer of filling, I chose dulce de leche (does that make it a quatro de leche cake?). Second the cake is free standing, not in deep pan. How it holds together is beyond me. It's wet, and it sloshes, but it survived the car ride home, and retained it's shape till the party that night.
Then we ate. OMG this cake is unbelievably delicious!! Rich, creamy super soft, full of bright vanilla, and cinnamon( I think). The extra dulce de leche added a complexity that I've never had in any other tres leche cake.
This is the cake I would die by. I would eat this cake till it killed me. Happily. I can't wait for another excuse to celebrate...
Read moreLast yr around this same time I went to get my favorite Barras with butter top, they just weren't as good as they used to be. I tried again today, the butter was plain with sugar mix and tasted a little old and bitter I won't go back for another try, its clear they have changed the recipe for the worst. Years ago and past 5 yrs I would go there and let me tell you, those Barras were to kill for, so addicting and delicious, the butter was whipped so puffy with amazing sweet, smooth creamy taste, had to get every wknd Now this Barras pastry is horrible, like the butter is barely mixed with sugar, buttery yellow and not the nice creamy white whipped to perfection that it used to be. So disappointed, I'll never go back and sure don't recommend anyone to go there; they don't seem to care about quality taste of their pastries anymore, just in a hurry and slop the bakery...
Read moreI have been to this place twice and twice I have been mistreated by the bigger lady sitting on a chair at all times. She looks bothered when she sees us, for some reason, she rushes us and is very frugal with the bakery bags, she gets mad if we decide at the end to get more pastries if it doesn’t fit in that one bag she has already filled. She is dirty and not clean when handling our bread. That was the deal breaker for me the first time I went she ran out of bakery bags and wanted to put my bread un a used bare cardboard box “handled by many” where can food was carried in previously, I said NO. The second time she had just finished counting money “handled by many” and touched my bread with her bare hands, during this pandemic... they need to wear gloves, people can get seriously sick like that. She wasn’t wearing a mask either. Anyways I will not be...
