I really enjoy Chivis. Open late, great greasy food for after the bars. I stop by quite often, a semi-regular since it’s in walking distance. I know it’s hard for restaurants right not with the economy, but I wrote my review with honest love towards Chivis
Recently the prices have raised slightly, and portions seem slightly smaller. New “Take-Out fees”. It’s not major changes, but enough to question if you’re getting your value when you account the increases across the board. Going from, “This is Denver, I understand this price” too, I’m not sure anymore. Since this time last year, iv noticed an over 2 dollar increase to my usual meal. Only to get hit on checkout with a tip response during checkout.
I guess my biggest eyebrow raise to the price, is the Mexican Coke. It appears the price did go, even though the tariffs have been delayed multiple times. So it does have me questioning if the slight increases were advantageous rather then necessary.
Ima give 4 stars, but it’s on the edge of falling to a 3. I still love & will continue to eat here. I just hope Chivis remains mindful of giving noticeably smaller...
Read moreThis was our second visit to Chivis, and we’ve really enjoyed both meals we’ve had here! Tonight, we ordered the beef flautas, chicken enchiladas Christmas style, one adobada taco, and one carnitas taco. The adobada taco is a standout—we’ve ordered it both times and highly recommend it. It is the only item from this visit not pictured because we ate it so fast. While the green sauce on the enchiladas was good, we especially loved the red sauce.
During our first visit, we tried the quesabirria tacos, which were incredible and are definitely on our list to order again. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions of food you get, which is a huge plus.
Chivis has a small dining area with a self-serve salsa and toppings bar. If you’re getting takeout, make sure to grab some salsas on your way out. Both my fiancé and I love their salsa selection, especially the habanero salsa and pickled vegetables for fans of spice.
Overall, Chivis is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood, and we highly recommend stopping in to...
Read moreAs soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels just like home. Every guest who entered during our visit was met with genuine hospitality, creating an environment that is both welcoming and attentive. This sense of care extends seamlessly into the food, which is crafted with an evident love for flavor and quality.
The menudo was a standout, perfectly balanced and rich in flavor. One unique highlight was their torta bread, toasted with a special spread that added an extraordinary layer of taste—a touch you don’t find in many places. The tacos de papa were simply delightful, and the birria was bursting with depth and savoriness. Another must-try are the chicken flautas, which delivered a satisfying crunch, were generously filled with chicken, and paired beautifully with their savory salsa and crema.
This spot is a gem, and I highly recommend it for anyone seeking authentic and flavorful mexican dishes.
Amazing family team, I highly...
