A great place for anyone who enjoy walking rounded paths or trails. We heard about the disturbing past of this area and made this place one of our go-to spots. Our visit took place bright and early on a laid back Monday morning. The park was packed. Right away we noticed the huge amount of dogs. This would not have been a problem for anyone... Except numerous dogs were off their leash with the owners not paying attention. We watched in horror as a huge Great Dane made a beeline for the small playscape area (full of running toddlers). The owner was arguing with someone on a cell phone and had their back turned. Everyone (myself included)ran screaming towards the playground. Thankfully, we were able to get the attention of the parents and everyone took action just in time before the dog was able to reach the youngest toddler sitting on the ground playing. After that unsettling moment, we were able to continue walking around the huge park area. We had to dodge numerous doggy piles (you know what I mean😊). Overall, the park is still a nice place for a relaxing walk. Just be careful of the absent-minded dog walking owners. It's better to park your vehicle on one of the side streets. Just check to make sure it's a legal...

Read moreThis park is unique in that there is so much open space for playing games, volleyball, frisbee, football, etc., and the magnificent trees are mostly around the parameter of the park, offering lots of shade. It's a great place to hand-feed (many people go there just for this) squirrels, who will come take a plain peanut in the shell right out of your hand. The park was built over the original Denver City Cemetery, where outlaws, transients, and homeless people were laid to rest. Although the graves were exhumed and moved, some were so old that doing this for every grave was impossible. As a result, there are stories about Cheeseman Park being haunted by ghosts at night, and yes it can be a bit spooky at night. This park is very popular in the Summer, so expect lots of folks, and no parking spots. You can park on side streets that...
