I am not a sports bar kind of guy, but I do like hamburgers and fries. A good friend therefore recommended Choppers, and so one afternoon my wife and I stopped in. This was before the evening rush started, and the large dining room area was mostly empty. It was overly warm - perhaps the ac was on the fritz? I was amazed at all the large televisions - there were more TVs, and much bigger TVs, than I'd ever seen in a restaurant before. Our server was friendly, and joked about Choppers having a friendly competition with the Cherry Cricket. But now we come to what counts: the burgers. They were large, larger than I expected - hmm, kind of like the TVs! - and very good. Better than I expected! The fries were a bit average. The ketchup and mustard bottles at our table were nearly empty, requiring us to steal condiments from the next table. But the burgers, those very large burgers, mostly made up for these minor inconveniences. My friend tells me the other sandwiches there are also quite good.

When one thinks of 'sports bar', 'great salad' isn't usually part of the equation -- but wow I highly recommend the "Buckmaster" salad at Choppers Sports Grill! I recommend subbing the grilled chicken" with blackened salmon and BLAM it's amazing! The salad is complemented with Colorado haystack goat cheese, roasted corn, extremely fresh avocado, vine-ripened tomato, toasted almonds, Medjool dates (amazing) -- tossed in a tasty and light vinaigrette -- all on "mixed greens" -- I recommended to the server that the restaurant add spinach to make this salad even better! Bravo! I'll get this again!

Chopping requires an up and down motion and that is a perfect description for an experience at Chopper's Sports Bar, service was slow, but when the server came around, she attentive and quick, great bar food with plenty of selection to satisfy everyone in your party, entire menu is overpriced but hard to tell if it's because they are so proud of their offerings or just the victims of supply chain and inflation issues, food is hot, drinks cold, and plenty of seating for the big games, would come back if in town again but be prepared for a sizeable bill.

I've heard about Chopper's via ads and word of mouth for awhile. I happened to be staying right across the street this weekend, so I figured I'd give it a shot. My sister lives near by and said she's always had good food there. Wow!... was I disappointed. Service/atmosphere are top notch. Zero issues there. The problem was the food. Lots of great sounding options on the menu, but I decided to go with the jalapeno cream cheese burger, and asked for Cajun fries on the side. Burger came out with regular fries.... No big deal. I let the server know. But let's talk about these regular fries. They literally tasted like they cut the potatoes and threw them in the fryer with zero kind of anything on them. The cook/texture was good, flavor was non existent. And unfortunately, the complete lack of flavor continued to the burger. I understand jalapenos vary in intensity, but there was absolutely no heat in this burger. Honestly the dominant flavor was the cream cheese... Which should not be the case when paired with grilled beef, bacon, and jalapenos. The meat was overcooked and the bun was so dry the bottom bun was literally cracking when I ate it. I did eat the burger, cause I was really hungry. When I finally got the Cajun fries, I had two bites of burger left. If you've read this far, the Cajun fries were EXCELLENT. So good in fact that I'm willing to chalk this up as a bad night in the kitchen; and they've been around too long with too much good word of mouth to not try it again. But this first visit was...

This was one of the most disappointing outings we've had in a long time. I understand being short staffed and patience but this was a whole new level. We had a few drinks inside and then asked if we could move outside. Once we sat outside we were completely ignored. After 25 minutes we asked for our check and the young lady said she would be right back. 15 minutes later she came back with the tab for another table over $100 more than ours. We asked her to correct it, amid other customers yelling for her to please get their checks or bring back their cards. She took about a dozen credit cards, put them in her pocket and disappeared for another 20 minutes. We tracked down our original server and he was able to help us out. We wanted to speak to a manager but the poor guy was getting unloaded on by the rest of the people on the patio so we left. I was hoping to get a response from someone at Chopper's regarding this issue. We've been going there off and on for over 15 years and have always really enjoyed it. Hopefully they can find some better people and it will go back to the way it was. I really hope that I can update this review in a more...
